SOL expansion

Sounds class - currently at the SOL I go nowhere near the concourse other than to get to my seat, it's just an horrendous experience. I'm convinced they could generate a lot of revenue by improving the whole experience.
I’d go for a half time pint every match if concourse were wider and you got served quick. I do it now and again. The new grab and go does make a massive difference but the space is a bigger issue.

Even if you got 3,000 more fans per game buying a pint that’s probably 15k in revenue per match extra. Depends on the clubs cut like.

The space is a massive issue. It holds the stadium back and I wonder whether it would hold future expansion back.

Get some temporary fences put up sporadically around the ground for half time and open up the gates. It would ease things and it would allow the dirty Darth Vapers and smerkers to feed their disgusting habits

I would imagine it would be improved with expansion. Or it gives the opportunity to do it
100% this, hopefully big decisions are made soon, as any expansion needs the concourses included in this. Is there any news on the planning application for the south stand yet? Appreciate planning permission is probably a long drawn out process mind.

Don’t think so. I doubt we’ll hear anything until season has finished.

I think that would have been done or trialed by now. Doesn’t look like they are willing. I agree tho.

Fans are currently unable to buy tickets and football, especially the PL, is awash with money at the moment. We also have an owners who picked up the club for a pittance so could easily throw money at the ground themselves and still sell it for a huge profit if they wished.

If we can’t expand now, then we probably never will.

I think the South Stand expansion will be a priority due to the potential risk of encroachment by the planned housing development

I think we will have the answer to that later this month, I believe after Sunderland’s protest the council will listen and move housing back with a commercial building backing onto the Sourh stand.

If they do that, there is no rush from the club to do south stand, as they have protected it for the future.

I do get what people are saying about that being the entrance from the city end now, I just think corporate add on from East stand outweighs limited option South would give (you get no extra pitch facing corporate from South West).

I don’t think the club will want any building near the South Stand unless it’s a club facility. Sheepfolds, the SoL and the current commercial properties will all benefit from being located within the housing development and community

We can't even sell out the corporate we have now

Certain corporate ain’t it? Stuff like boxes are gone ain’t they?.

Stuff like boxes are way over subscribed mate, and that’s 25 year old ones, new technology since then could put some next level boxes in.

And that’s why I don’t think we do the south stand mate, you are really limited with what you can do there.

If you are aiming for more match day revenue aside from corporate expansion you make the normal fan have a relaxing space to buy beers in the warmth before and during the game. A concourse is old school modern grounds don’t really have them they have areas, spaces, lounges etc. Fans go to the ground and drink before the match because its pleasant and because you can do it until 2.55 and still be in your seat for kick off.

I’m not sure the SOL can improve to do that. But it’s what modern grounds have. A slightly wider concourse isn’t the answer.
