SOL expansion

John Fickling said his biggest regret with the design of the Stadium of Light was they put in too many boxes. The way to go now is big hospitality spaces where people can mix and then go out into there padded seats not be confined within a box. Everton have only built 20 boxes into there new stadium and have 13 large Corporate Hospitality Lounges. A 10 seater box now is around £30k a season so over 19 games works out at only £158 per seat per game. We are selling individual corporate tickets in 76 Yards for £180+ and in Banks on the Wear up too £810 a game now. Building in boxes means removing rows 37 and above to create the balcony displacing current season ticket holders and would add extra costs to construction plus reducing capacity in the process. I don't think they will build any more boxes but have similar offerings to 76 yards where level 2 is hospitality and they can use the new upper tier rows 1-5 like the old BCB seats as per the North Stand Upper or like now the back rows of the existing East/South Stands and corners when it eventually happens.

If we were still in the league cup, would we sell out a home game against lower league opposition now?
No, but by that logic we’d downsize the SoL to about 15k

That’s the thing to do now. Spurs apparently like that, and Anfield is a big open space too.

Box is definitely the best though (from a supporter’s perspective), can’t beat that.

Yes i dont know where the idea came from about a strip of boxes being added . As you say it will be big hospitality space much more flexible and functional and importantly makes them more money

no

as most other premier clubs wouldnt also
Let’s see if we can sustain this for a couple of seasons before rushing into it. It would look amazing though.
i can see the logic in this but im now more towards do it now, while can , have some balls and strike while can
loads of kids cant get to the matches now unless the ground gets extended and once the mags build theirs those who live in 50/50 areas dads will just end up taking their kids there IMO

people keep saying what if were relegated... but everton could have said that when building their new stadium and spurs even , the demand is definitely there , we either grasp the opportunity or don't... oh aye with all the sheepfold developments ongoing and planned its another argument for doing it now while can

Spurs and Everton are and were established PL clubs and the demand would have been there for a number of years prior to even considering moving stadiums. SAFC's situation isn't the same in the slightest

We have to do it asap. We need to get people in while we're doing well. Especially younguns.

Mind having said that. I first started going under Terry Burcher and my kids first season as season ticket holders was the first L1 season 18/19 under Jack Ross. So maybe it's pain of being shite that gets people hooked.

If the ownership are in this for the medium to long term including continued investment in players then increasing capacity is definitely a consideration.

Would we fill it in years to come, that’s the magic question. Attendances fell off in our last PL run as we were normally struggling in the bottom half and not winning too many matches. We’d need to be better than that and with more ambition I think. But this is an opportunity now and letting things potentially flatten off before doing it might be missing the moment.

We can't sell out the existing hospitality behind the other goal though. Apparently boxes are in demand.

You could be right, but they'd have to price them better than the North Stand offering.

The momentum the club has at the moment is a currency that doesn’t come along often. Keep it going by getting this announced. Exciting times.

I think theres just less seats to fill in a box rather than in demand. Im sure they are learning their lesson from 76 yards based on the offers they are pumping out.
