That’s true enough but they are held every two years so it’s not as if he’d never get the chance to play in one again. There’s also the small matter of a World Cup in 8 or so months so he’d still have a chance to represent his country in a tournament this year.

The good thing is, if he’s fit enough to be going over there he should be fit enough to face the mags. I’d take that. What would annoy a lot of people is if he’s ’not Fit to fave the mags’ yet still travels!!

No but as you say, it’s an entirely different thing really. Means more to Africa generally the AFCON as you’d expect but yeah the World Cup isn’t quite the same for them.
To be honest if he’s fit for AFCON I wouldn’t expect him to miss it if I take my Sunderland glasses off

Agree with this like. To be fair if they're taking him in the hopes he can play in the knockout stage that might be decent for us. Rather than us having to give him minutes as the gets up to speed we can let them do that, and hopefully he's back here in the new year fully match fit
