Villa forum

Cannot see anything but a comfortable away win. Their squad is packed full of quality, only a matter of time before it clicks for them anarl.

Football has a way of biting you on the arse for being a bit chirpy - see Plymouth at home last season.

I’ll be putting an insurance bet on an away win, snap your hand off for a point and I can’t even fathom a win against them tbh so won’t go down that road.

Ha’way the lads.
I would advise against making any bets personally, given your last two predictions.

Sack the board sack the manager cry cry boycott games we lost a few games. I can't cope with life my football team have lost why aren't we top and won every game 10-0 this isn't what happens on my PS5. I'm off to cry and blame everyone else because I'm not enjoying.my hobby. Sue everyone. Sack everyone.

Maybe football isn't the hobby for you.
Eh? Not saying it's right but you can see where they're heading (especially Rangers).

I know.

The thing is, a manager will have his dissenters even at the very best of times. There were a few posters on here last season who never took to Regis, and couldn't wait to stick the boot in when results slid. It'll be the same at Villa. Probably people who didn't want that manager in the first place, and possibly doubled down on their opinion of him.

That dissent will always be there, and once there's a few bad results, their voices get louder and some people start nodding along.

Whether they're right or wrong is up for debate, but from the outside looking in I certainly wouldn't be calling for Emery's head, but nowt would shock me if he toppled.

A few might dig me out here for my stance on Mowbray, though I think I was fair.

Lee Johnson I was completely right about all along.
One of them was the man who described Michael Beale as the brains behind The Rangers only title win

Whey given Gerrard's record since, perhaps he was. 🤷‍♂️

Wrong man at the wrong time here though.

Some coaches are better suited to a supporting role rather than being the leading man. Maybe that's true of Beale. And Doddsy.

They aren't peak Barcelona.

One of your podcasters was on our podcast this week, I listened to it today. Fuck me, he was pessimistic. He's not happy with what he has seen this season so far , said it's been the same 5 performances in a row. No energy, no creativity.. almost made me feel positive
That's exactly what its been like. We've been just plain dull. Insipid.
Are those last players back v us this weekend mate ?
Barkley and Onana unlikely. Kamara will be back. Unsure about Tielemans.

do you think he'll start Elliot and Sancho on sunday?
It depends on which of those midfielders are back, because that would determine whether McGinn starts further forward or deeper in the 6 role. Tielemans also. I'd expect Watkins up top and then the three behind to be definitely Rogers (who has done nothing yet for us and a shadow of the player that we saw in Belgrade). We do need width though which Elliott doesn't offer, so there's a chance both start. But I'd guess that it'll be Elliott starting with Sancho on the bench.

The three Villa players that I saw for England ( admittedly highlights only ) seemed to do ok v Serbia ( Konsa scored ?)
Why are you mis firing with such good players ?

Sure I saw that Tielemans is out for a few weeks?

I don’t like it. I prefer it when fans are ultra confident v us and we surprise them.

I might be the only person who wouldn't take a point at this stage :)

I don't mean that as any kind of slight against Villa. They are undoubtedly a good team just hitting a rough patch. We need to get as many wins as we can at home and I'd hope this is one being marked as one to really go for. Going to be a difficult one and I'm certainly not feeling overly confident but the feel good factor for the squad would just be through the roof if we got another win under our belt especially before we hit the peiod of playing the big 6 in November/December then obviously AFCON starting

That's the million dollar question. Its not that we're misfiring we just are so slow in our build-u ply and very lack lustre. I do put it down to the loss of our ball carriers over the past couple of seasons and even if tielemans was fit we could potentially have a three behind Watkins of Rogers, McGinn, and Elliott. That offers no width and no real drive as a unit going forward. Its all very slow, pass sideways, and pass back. The zip is missing. Sancho may add that but he's probably going to need a few more games. Guessand is also very raw, and Malen just poor. Its just a bit of a jumbled mess at the moment.

I wouldn't mind betting we have more possession on Sunday, but then break down often in the final third.
Closest to Solihull Moors isn't it?
You'd think so as the airport is actually in Solihull.
