Depression thread continued...

When I left work, my boss took me out for coffee and cake, she said you know what your problem was , you were too reliable. If we ever wanted anything done, quickly and properly, we came to you (and it wasn't a compliment).

You get torn between doing a good job and being like some of the others and just doing the bare minimum.

Remembermber tho it is worth reminding your workplace. They have a duty of care towards you. You have already been off and had to have counselling for an issue. It is documented. Also too exacerbate this they are relying on your competence alone to get stuff done. I.e overworking you.

It is In your works best interest to make sure you are well both physically and mentally, a) because you are a good worker and b) cos this issue has raised it's ugly head before and they can't bee seen to just continue to let it happen.

Get back to them...deep breaths.....and discuss your concerns with them, try not to lose your rag (hard believe me I know). Make sure any discussion is noted. Then they have to act on it.

I've taken the next couple of days off work and I'm off next week so it gives me some time to get my head space right, but I've already got in touch with the docs and I have a phone appointment scheduled for Monday so I'll see what they say about it.

I expect my manager will want to speak to me today sometime to check in and make sure everything is alright but I have no idea with that place what to expect anymore.

We have a new head manager in and I actually think hes doing well and trying to make the place better, but the shit that has went on before him is going to take months, if not years to sort out. I might try and speak with him and see what he's like on the subject when I get back (if I go back).

He's as much use as a chocolate fireguard on personal matters and when I was shouting at the manager yesterday, he actually told me to go and speak to my union rep and he would back him up.

Hes great when it comes to local and national union matters, but put him in a meeting about conduct or any personal issues and hes as quiet as a mouse.

Had a mad time of late. Driving to work Tuesday morning and all I could think about was wrapping my car into a wall. Sat and cried for a bit had a breakdown at work. Crisis team called and had a good chat with them.

Pulled myself round. Lost my job of ten year. Second job I’ve lost through this bastard thing.

Why did you lose your job, did they not show any sympathy. People can't just get sacked on the spot. There has at least to be an investigation and findings.

Oh I am so worked up. You've worked for them for 10 years for gods sake.

We are here if you need us too. And don't think about wrapping your car round or in to anything ever. You did the right thing reaching out to the crisis team.

Let us know if there is anything we can do

Hi mate. Thanks for the nice reply.

I’ve been on a final warning for last year and then they extended it.

Had a bit of a disagreement with my manager as I explained I went to work the next day after having a knife to my throat and wanted to end it about a year ago and he smirked at me and said I’ve had loads of time off.

I’ve ended up packing it in on my own terms to be honest. Just need to reset and go again mate.

Working there was bringing me down I couldn’t even enjoy my days off without worrying about work.

Don’t know why I want to wrap me car around anything I’ve just tear mesel to a half decent car for first time in my life at Xmas hahaha.

Anyway I’m thinking about being a roly poly stripper next so if anyone is getting married or birthdays haha.

Just need someone to apply my false tan and baby oil.

We have to laugh man don’t we. But please everyone don’t worry about me. I just come on to vent and get it off my chest. I’m sound.

But as always I’m here for anyone anytime for a chat.

Ah mate. I’ve never had any decent jobs. Got made to go out to graft off me father the day I left school.

Was supposed to go on a family holiday the Saturday and me mate knocked at the door the Friday night saying he had me a job.

Dad made me stay at home with my auntie and go to work hahah. The bastard.

But one thing is I’ve always worked so that instilled a good ethic in me.

42 year old now. Was at my last job ten year lost that and ten year st this job.

Yeah it does help. I post on here the things I don’t want to tell anyone and it helps me. It’s brilliant for that.

The dragon is away up Glasgow the neet me and the bairn have had a madras and I’m taking him up Scotland Sunday for motorcross
