SOL expansion

It makes sense to have planning permission in place 'in case' which is all i think this is.
I had a brief look at the plans and it looks like it's essentially a copy of the north stand extension? While that would be fine, I think it would be interesting to explore the possibility of something more ambitious, I.e. a one tier extension of fhe south end so we have a big 'home end' in the mould of Spurs' ground. Plus adding more corporate makes sense if we can establish ourselves in the prem.
Suspect this would be a lot more expensive given how the stadium was designed to accommodate an extension but it would be good to explore.
Im not that bothered about empty seats worry. I think we should build it!
As for the Council, I think the executive have done a v good job of late but fluffed their lines a bit here. I think they'll retreat to the original plan on this one.

The council are doing great things, however digging deeper into the official objection (and some people thinking Sir Bob is just piping up now that the hybrid application has gone in)..correspondence evidence shows that he raised his concerns well over a year ago about the guarantee of the buffer zone (commercial use only) and Melia has just been telling him what he wants to hear then ignoring him - doesn't look good on the council side at all...I can see why they have went public
This you think bob has just woke up one morning the other week and thought eee this council man look how close it’s ganna get to the Sol let’s get me mate from the echo on the phone 🙈

If corporate expansion is the driver it makes sense to do east stand first as you can do a hell of a lot more with that extra space but its alot more seats to fill with ordinary punters.

If you do south stand first you get the sensible incremental seating capacity uplift bit not much extra corporate.

If you do the Spurs style one end of full seating you get zero corporate addition, and the club will not want that.

I dont think its as straightforward a decision as first looks.

So you think if the worst happens and we went back down we'd be getting sell out crowds and talking of stadium expansions?
So never do anything again ever because we might gan down again?. Makes no sense mate and luckily those running the show have way bigger plans for the future of the club than what having some empty seats may look like on twitter if we get relegated in the future.

What if we sell out for two PL seasons, decide to build an extension on the back of it and THEN get relegated? There’s never a perfect time to do something like this but sometimes in life you have to take a chance. That’s how success works - risk taking.

You’d be adding a fair amount more in boxes and could be other “premium” space available for the club to capitalise on. The extra seats are almost just the cherry on top let’s be honest. We’ve gotta be looking for what we can do for concerts etc too.

The space under the stadium is limited cos we built the pitch below ground level to save money as concrete is cheaper than steel!...Whilst i agree extending the ground at the south end would be spectacular if it was one big tier and the facade you see when walking across the bridge was some sort of cutting edge design befitting of the new regeneration area.

...Sadly i think our owners are more prosaic and efficient with their spending and any expansion if it occurs will be a tarted up version of bobs original plans probably with more corporate and less seats than bob had in mind !

So attendances wouldnt drop drastically if we went down then?
Im saying that comparisons of attendances from 20 years ago are worthless when talking about the game and interest now.

Imo, and that's all it is, we should keep the option open to extend the stadium while seeing what happens in next few seasons. I'd hope we'd see the vast majority renew next season if relegated but I would see it dropping. Hopefully we would see 90 to 95% renewals at least. Match day walk up tickets I think would drop.

I think the way football finances are the more corporate we can offer the better. It’s not for me but I think coming up with a design that while adds a good few thousand standard seats it’s ups the boxes and premium offerings. It’s just the way it’s going and we seem to sell things like boxes pretty quickly now.

Then we'd be left with a new stand and stadium with thousands and thousands of empty seats

The capacity is fine as it is
