SOL expansion

Even then the novelty will wear off pretty quickly unless we're almost continually making forward progress, which is basically impossible.
what if we spend the next 10 years in the premier league, then expand and get relegated? think it would be a sell out the first season back in the championship?

The current capacity isn't 46,500. There's 48,707 seats in the stadium, so it'd be around 54k.
I was talking about bums on seats as it's 46,500ish at the moment due to the segregation and wasted away seats etc. The capacity of 48,707 isn't the maximum attendance possible for our footy games and the record is less at 48,353.

Adding 5,300 would take it to 51,800ish but they will probably sell the front of the away section adding 1,000 seats at some point to increase it again but it wouldn't be 54k sell outs. My estimate was out as I reckon it will be high 52k/low 53k if you also include the empty away seats being sold.

Well, it was absolutely nowhere near sold out the last time we went down to the championship after 10 years in the Prem - average attendance was less than 28k.

why does that matter do you have a fear of empty seats ?doesn't bother other clubs especially some of the big ones on the continent so why does it bother you?

so whats the difference in waiting X amount of years to do it rather than now?

Unless you are saying dont do it all?

think you are getting my post mixed up mate

It's all just proposals at this stage so it can be withdrawn and resubmitted.

Council doesn't have to respond to any objection per se, but has it take into consideration valid arguments (i.e. anything considered to be a 'material consideration' in planning terms).

Yeah I don't understand how it has got this far without club and the council's planning officers meeting to discuss these proposals. Really odd.
Will become incredibly messy if they don't sit and sort something out

46,000 when we're going to be fighting at the bottom. Imagine what we would get if we could consolidate and start pushing for top half

Ha! just pointing out the fact to get it done as soon as
if the club have ambition, (i think they do)I agree with you!..they need to sort the south stand out first before the nimby's feck the process up! The focus should be on staying up this season and improving year on year ..you need to strive for success in all things and making the sol the best they can afford is part of that!

I think they should leave it. If you average out the attendances since 1997, the stadium is fine. Okay, there is a buzz about the place right now. Peaks and troughs.
So never build?. If we don’t get on with it soon we’re going to get left behind. And at some point the blood sand lot we either expand hodge podge or build a new stadium which could drag income away from the Sol gigs etc. we need more boxes and stuff at the Sol that’s evident.

The stadium is over 25 years old, corporate facilities are the money earner now.

Its an old out of date ground, if we are to compete we need every penny the ground can make. The owners will be fully aware of the limitations the SOL has and will have plans in place for more corporate sales and a few more seats.

Stay up this year and look to move on and I think they will push the buttons on it

The stadium of light has only been fully soldout 10 times since it opened in 1997.

10 times in 28 years.

This expansion talk is nonsense.
I think your wrong mate !time will tell!in the time period you mention the best weve been is just about ok and utter shyte for most of the time ...i think our owners have a little more ambition for the club than you have and the means to achieve it!...literally watch this space!
