Wrestling - Part 3

Mind, I do think WWE lacks gimmicks now, I think you need something a little daft or different to help sell a character. They've gone too "real" with people, I mean who even has a proper gimmick?
I'm going to sound like a right sad kernt, but I'm already posting on a wrestling thread so who cares.

A gimmick doesn't have to be an outlandish thing. If you look at WWE now, there's a few outlandish gimmicks, but they're terrible - Wyatt 6 for for example, they're just awful.

Jey Uso is a gimmick. Cody is a gimmick. They basically all are. What they're failing to do is put over stakes in anything and invest in telling the audience why they should give a monkies.

They were doing really well last year with everything, because the Rock fucked up and changed things. Since then it's been utter dross.

Jacob Fatu this time last year was massively over just by putting his thumb in the air. Now he's a bloke in a wolf mask. They've done a terrible job in only 12 months

I agree, I think what was done well years ago was that even some of the outlandish gimmicks had a back story which the fans could buy into. I mean look at how ridiculous the backstories of Undertaker and Kane were but it was hugely over.

Jesus, they even got Steve Blackman over, a man who barely raised a smile or uttered a word because they focused on his martial arts skills and stuck him in the hardcore division.

Al Snow got over as fuck running round with a mannequin head.

Mankind, Big Boss Man, Razor Ramon, APA, endless list of gimmicks that sound daft but the crowd loved.

There's enough guys who have the personality to pull off a gimmick and some are popular enough anyway - LA Knight, Jey Uso, but there is an absolute vacuum in anyone to give a fuck about at mid-card level. Rusev, Black, Andrade, Nakamura, Priest couldn't get a reaction if they slapped the audience on the way down.

Then you have Bron Breaker who should be this monster heel Goldberg type, losing tag matches. Heyman should be doing his talking as well, he shouldn't be talking just like Lesnar never used to.

At a time when wrestling was more popular than ever because it went realistic, you had Kane who could summon fire and zap people with lightning. Turned up and chokeslammed his undead brother onto his mothers grave

Story was so good though it lasted 20 years!

Ideally he should retire, absolutely finished.
He looks absolutely shocking in the ring. His ideas in AEW have been worse than shite. He did a good job there initially but fuck me it went to his head and he went ape shit after.

He'll fit right back in with all the other MAGA knackers in TKO. HOF induction and hopefully send him off somewhere where he has no influence on creative.

*Edit. The Painmaker gimmick he came up with in Japan needs to be studied as to how cringey that was. A bloke in his 40s trying to be a goth... Or something. Good lord 😂

Haven't watched or tried to in weeks. Terrible. Reet in the bog.

I fast forward a lot now. I could probably get away with watching the highlights package on YouTube tbh. 2hrs 30 of predictable bland action and stories. The Naomi announcement was decent but hardly a surprise given that other publicity whore Stephanie McMahon has been all over her during the last week.
