Wilson

RLB said he hoped he would have played a part in the last friendly but it came too soon. Hopefully see him in the next game.

In my opinion there isn't any player from last years squad I'd be genuinely confident in making the step up at this point in time.

And that includes Le Fee who has the best chance but is still an unknown at this level.

They were all very good value for a 4th place team. But even if we were going for Championship automatic promotion this season I'd expect some of them to be replaced with better.

Sentiment to one side as they all seemed a great bunch of lads and they got the job done, but I'm chuffed to bits we are replacing them one by one. We are going down otherwise.

Appreciate its harsh but that's my honest view.

As much as i like the bloke i can't help thinking that he is a poor footballer, scored some good goals yes but his inability to actually get on the ball bothered me. I wonder how many touches he had of the ball in the last 15 games? He always seemed to be where the ball wasn't. Saying that I hope he gets a chance and improves dramatically

haddaway and shite. If you can't see elf is quality there is no hope for you. Fair enough to say many of the rest of the squad have an opportunity to step up that they might or might not be up to, but to write a full squad of largely young and exciting players off is just daft.

Maybe harsh but 100 per cent correct, its what the club thinks aswell.

I think Isidor will really surprise people.

He seems to kind of being written off as a PL player for some reason, but his strengths are probably going to be more pronounced for us at PL level than in the Championship.

His movement is superb and we're going to spend a lot of time in a low block and countering, which we've seen several examples of being one of his biggest strengths last season.

i think Isidor will be more suited to the premierleague with his pace and playing with better players. his finishing is erratic, as in he'll either score a worldie or fluff it from 5 yards with little in the middle. that can improve though

the amount of times you'd see him making runs last year and no one had the vision to try and play him in. i can see that changing with for example Xhaka pinging pinpoint balls over the top like he did to Adingra the other day. and it wasn't offside

Agree with this. In fact, think you’re a tad harsh on his finishing - his data on this was very good last year iirc.

However, the reason I’m a bit down on him (and Mayenda) is they are poor at holding the ball up. That didn’t matter so much last year as we were often dominant in possession. It will matter a shit load this year. That’s why we need a “back to goal” striker as our main guy imo.

Because they are replacing them one by one
Thanks, Stevo.

If they continue to replace them one by one (pause: how else would they do it?) & don't stop until they're all replaced you might have a point. Even so, I would still doubt you know what the club is thinking.

Side question: can a club think? Discuss....
Because they have already replaced most of them and if Guiu and a CB sign soon ,there will be only Hume ,Ballard, and Mayenda against WHU
Thanks, Stevo. Please see my reply to the other Stevo.

Having 3 different types of strikers isn’t a bad thing.

Wilson to play off the shoulder
Mayenda to run at defenders
Guiu to get on the end if crosses and hold the ball up

Means we can play different ways in different situations something Reggie has always wanted to do!

As people have said, with better players in the midfield, the service will be better for Wilson and some of those runs he makes might get picked out

He's a scorer of great goals, rather than a great goalscorer.
Literally this.

He is always a threat going forward with his pace. His goal against Coventry in the play off first leg was class. People bang on about the 2 pens he missed affecting his form- he scored a lovely goal at Boro away, which was 2 weeks later.

I rate him and think he has the ability to get some goals next year. Especially considering we've got le fee and xhaka, who have the ability to find the perfect pass.
