Boro thread

Im not going to get above my station regards Boro, but from the outside looking in I would say they are in need for a new direction and plan as what they currently have is just coming up short and that’s not rubbing it in but being honest. I also think losing Latte was a huge blow to them and killed off any play off hopes. We have a plan and structure in place that we have all doubted but looks like the owners got it right after all and I’m so grateful for it. Had we did a Sheff U and chucked money at it for the players they did might have us back at square one. Boro need something along the same direction. I’ve nothing against them to be honest and just like to beat them when we play them and I also think the premier league would be better with all 3 north east teams in it.

Theres only one north east team in it at the moment. I for one will be cheering on Berra to make it two

The advantage of signing youth is that you're potentially signing players with sell on potential.

Bit surprised you didn't push to sign Henderson mind, as he would have been valuable as a leader for all the youngsters in my opinion.

Nah, was a different poster who said that Boro never got a mention on here when you were in League One because you were busy talking about the clubs in League One at the time.

It was different last season because we were both in the same division.

I said to him I'd imagine Boro won't get mentioned on here now, as you'll want to focus on Premier League clubs and he agreed.
Look marra we know you’ve not got a real rivalry through no fault of your own and that’s sadly a geographic problem. tbh I think that means your lot miss out on a lot of what being a football fan is all about.

It’s all well and good coming on here for a few bantz but don’t pad your part out please. It smacks a little bit of desperation at times. I also think it’s helped you in results against us in my 50+yrs of SAFC support becos we’ve got a far worse record against you than we have against the mags unfortunately. I’m on record umpteen times on here saying I wish SAFC and its fans started taking games against you lot more seriously than we obviously have in my SAFC suffering experience. I also wanted Boro to win that LC Final v Bolton iirc though I didn’t know that until it kicked off, something that would nivver happen with the mags. Mind you I think mag baiting may have played a part in that choice anarl.

I work with a couple of Palace fans atm and the desperation of their joint forced rivalry with Brighton gets no end of side eyes between me the Spurs lad and the two Celtic boys. I’m sure you also agree that there’s nowt sadder in English football than Leeds grasping attempts at rivalry with Man Utd. All three efforts aren’t a good look. Please dont try making it four.
Or we pass each other
Nice one!

Some good points but your wrong about Leeds Man Utd being one sided
Both clubs hate each other with a passion

I’ll be honest , I would like boro to go up so all the north east is in there and maybe replace one of the glut of London clubs or Bournemouth in their tinpot shed of a ground

That’s me though. I’ve never hated boro , I don’t like losing to them but it’s a mile off nufc
I’d prefer the 3 NE teams in the PL and the other 17 to be SE clubs mesel. Might get a tkt then.
In the game against us down smog Hackney got an assist and a goal but was largely outshone by Dan Neil.

It was an odd performance as he went missing for most of the game but did produce 2 moments of quality.
He’s a player with potential surrounded by a lot who haven’t. He would’ve looked far better playing for the three who went up and Sheff Utd and Coventry.

Man Utd forget all about Leeds when they aren’t in the same division.

They really don’t
They still sing anti Leeds songs to this day
Nasty rivalry with no love lost at all

I for one can agree with a lot of what you've said there - although i'm not convinced about your record against us being cos you dont take it as seriously as us.
would smack of being very unprofessional (by the players) in my opinion.

Anyway, i do get you point about 'rivalries'.
I reckon a lot of Boro fans see you as rivals cos you're the closest team to us (that we play against fairly regularly), but yeah its undisputable that your rivals are your black n white cousins up the road.
Not sure how old your are, but i would say though that when i was a kid going to matches (1970's) the 'rivalry' between the two sets of supporters was pretty 'intense'.

It's quite similar between us and Leeds too.
A lot of Boro fans dislike Leeds - dunno if its a 'Yorkshire thing' or what, but they have plenty other clubs a lot nearer to them that what we are.
Again though , there's always a lot of animosity between our fans and theirs - even now.

This idea that we take the game more seriously than you is ridiculous. Head to head, you've won 64 games and we've won 52.

You did the double over us last season because you were better than us. Our record against you in recent times has generally been better because we've generally been better than you.

Simple stuff really.

Generally better than us by having 1 PL season in about 20 years?

The truth is it's a bit like our record against Coventry before the playoffs, some teams just randomly have good records against others of a similar level.

The mags have generally been better than us (finishing positions) but we’ve a better record against them than against you is my point. My points illustrated by your reply which underlines that you’ve no idea of the difference in atmospheres and build up to the two games.

But surely it would be an equal playing field, if Sunderland players are just as up for it as Newcastle players. This should have meant Newcastle having a better record against you in recent times, but you actually have the better record.

Are we saying that you have a better recent record vs Newcastle because Sunderland fans and players are more up for it?

Of course, more up for it than you would be for a game against Boro, but if the game genuinely means as much to both sides, then you'd expect the better team to come out on top on the day.

I'm referring to when we've actually played each other. I'm not saying it to be arrogant, I genuinely believe that we've generally had the better team when we've played you over the last 30 years.

Bore off Steve

I’ve read they’ve been linked with Brittain from Blackburn, Alfie Jones from Hull, and Gilchrist from Chelsea (loan at Sheffield United last season). Seems unimaginative tbh
