This is a story as old as the hills. It goes a bit like this:
Do as I say, not as I do. Entrenched in the unconscious ego bubble with its inclinations towards arrogance and the felt entitlement to do & say whatever they want. Hypocrisy exposed, they become angry &/or defensive. They then take the stance of being offended at being caught with hands in the till for all to see. Some go on to play the victim, some run away, some do both, some do neither.
I liked Henderson when he was our player. He went on to have a successful career. If he'd kept his mouth shut & taken the Saudi money, that would have been one thing. It wouldn't have been a good thing (in my opinion) but before taking that money he'd been unable to resist putting himself up on a moral pedestal & in doing so he made matters much worse when he then decided to take it.
We all make mistakes. Some learn from them, some don't. I wish Henderson all the best. ELSEWHERE.
