Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)


He'll probably be on about £50k a week at Brentford.

£5 million for a 2 year contract.

I doubt he's worth that.
 
It is clear we are still on a very strict budget, particularly when it comes to wages. I knew we would never pay Henderson's wages. The club have a price they are prepared to pay and they will not go over it no matter what, even if it means losing out on key targets, this has been the case since the owners arrived.

They also avoid signing older plays that they will get no return on in favour of playing young lads, who will appreciate in value if played regularly, so signing Henderson would mean less opportunity to raise the next lamb.

I think Henderson would have been an amazing signing, he has all the PL experience and leadership in the world, things our signings so far are lacking.

It's clear from what you're saying you're either on a wind up or that narrow-minded that you can't quite grasp that multi millionaire Henderson, who was already made for life financially and still could have got a few million a year in the PL (or Europe) when leaving Liverpool is a bit different from Joe Bloggs on £40k at Nissan being offered big money to go to Saudi. That's ignoring all the virtue signalling crap anarl.

He'll be on decent money now at Brentford adding a few more million to the coffers and he's got the bonus of being near London and not far from Surrey's Golden Triangle were many other rich footballers (and other famous/rich people) live and enjoy the amenities and lifestyle that their millions allow them to compared to up here.

100K for a 2 year contract still would have been worth it. Data analysis says no but experience and coaching behind the scenes does not show up in the data. Conclusion I think Sunderland made a mistake but did his family want to come back to the North East.

What is the obsession with this place and former players coming back and coaching here? Absolutely lifting reason to sign an over the hill player who probably wanted top wage. I'd rather we used it to sign a player who would push to start every game not sit on the bench

So I'm not that bothered.

If he turns out to be class at Brentford then it'll feel like an opportunity lost for sure with hindsight but I think the Premier League might be touch far for him at this stage of his career.

He wanted to come last summer, we messed him about he went to Ajax. Even if KS came out in the press and said we were 100% interested, there was only a slim chance it would ever happen. The relationship was already soured.

I agree with you 100% but in French language we have La & then the exception Le just saying….Henderson would not be coming just for a retirement check

Never said that at all. It was said wages would be an issue and he would play for buttons. He just wanted out of Saudi and to come home. I'm sure a vast bulk of his Saudi wages bought out his contract so he could leave.
