Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

I would have taken him, but he’s 35 and if his wages are still high, we still need starters. People said last time, Speakman was the problem, and he’d sign for us regardless of his wage packet. What a load of shite, Speakman isn’t the problem, and he wasn’t then. Lad still wants to earn a packet.

He moved to Saudi Arabia, so it's hard for anybody to argue against that he's mainly interested in Monday.

Different days mate, the pace of the game now demands that exra yard and snap that hunger brings . Remember Hoddle dropping ever deeper and strolling? You dont even get time as a CB now with the high press let alone as a midfielder
Bracewell would be fine in any era but my point was around returning. In terms of hunger they both were brilliant professionals similar to Henderson in that respect .

I think Henderson probably thinks he should be playing week in/out and probably wanted a kind of salary which dictated that also.

I'm glad the club haven't wanted to bring a player in just to sit about and play the odd game if that's your point. There's already plenty of voices in the dressing room who've been through lots of highs and lows already.

If he's not bringing competition to play then the club have done absolutely the right thing. We've no room for passengers this season.
We've no idea what Henderson's demands are. If it is to play every week on a £200k salary than he's best avoided, agreed. I doubt that's the case, but we've no way of knowing until we see what his involvement is in Brentford.

We've got some players who've had some highs and lows yeah. Players who've played under the likes of Lee Johnson, Phil Parkinson and Michael Beale and played in the Checkatrade Trophy final. Theres a huge difference to that and what Henderson brings. Hence why Brentford are interested.

We need a squad too and if Neil, Rigg or even Diarra or Sadiki are struggling or injured, having a reliable older head to call upon would be ideal. When we get to december we've got Rigg, Neil, Le Fee and Jones (as it stands at least) to take on Leeds, Spurs, City and probably Brentford. A free transfer of the standard of Henderson would be very handy at that time. If we have someone else lined up, great.

We are back to slagging the recruitment team and those running the club man. Keep up.
Iif anything, I admire the recruiting team even more now, despite little old me wanting Henderson's passion and experience here.

They've not been caught up in any of BHH stuff, or the temptation to see it as a marketing opportunity.

They've stuck with their data driven and financially astute approach, ignoring outside noise.

Whilst I agree, he ended up turning his back on it sharpish and moving back to European football. Its fair to assume that he regretted his decision and reevaluated his priorities as a result. No one knows whats in his head though.

Fuck Jordan Henderson

He tarnished his reputation with the Saudi thing and he's just handed PSV their second title in a row by overseeing one of the biggest bottle jobs in Eredivisie history. Ajax fans couldn't wait to see the back of the ****.

Glad to hear the club never looked at him. The blokes a spanner.

Nah not so sure, its human nature when youve done it all to be a bit philosophical & accept average ( admittedly a fairly decent average) when its not coming off, top talent young players with a name to build just don't. We need players upset if its not working

There is only one spanner here
Thanks for that 👌

The team we have in place probably ran his stats and I bet they very poor, remember the mistake the club made with Defoe. I think we were 100% right to not be interested in him.

I'm not saying it's a good or a bad thing. I'm just pointing out the counter argument to those who keep saying he wouldn't care about the money.

None of us know what his motivation is these days. Personally I would have thought at 35 the prospect of playing every week in the twilight of your playing career in the PL might be a bigger pull than money for a multi-millionaire, who knows.

Like most of us have said, he would have been a good option for a squad player, but the club clearly have some intel on his situation and its just not aligned with the recruitment they've wanted this season. I think most would have seen it as an easy signing to make, so there has to be some big red flags as to why we've not bothered or he's not been happy with what may/may not have been offered.

I think the energy and pace of the lads brought in would have kept him on the bench anyway and maybe even blocked someone like Riggs chances of more game time.

I wish him luck at Brentford, apart from our 2 games against them.

2 year deal is absolutely mental. You can look old overnight just like Casemiro, he’ll be ready for the knackers yard long before this seasons up let alone next.
