Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

I'd have to go back to the bumps which I can't be bothered. There's was a good one where you gave a seven point list of where Sunderland were going wrong. I'm pretty sure you were negative when Le Bris was appointed. Pretty easy to be positive a few months after he was appointed. And even you would admit you're not a humble poster despite using 'imho'. For the record I was positive about Le Bris on the day he was appointed.

Well done you👍

I wasn’t, still not convinced tbh.

Time will tell.

Right, but that’s what people are suggesting for Henderson too. Brighton only playing Milner 10 times is deliberate. He’s not there to play week in week out, he’s there as reliable cover and a model professional with incredible experience to provide to an otherwise young dressing room.

I don’t think anyone here thinks Jordan Henderson should be playing week in week out. I doubt Brentford do either. Neither does tuchel. He brings far, far more than what he brings to the pitch. It’s well documented how vital he was behind the scenes at Liverpool and with England.

I think Henderson probably thinks he should be playing week in/out and probably wanted a kind of salary which dictated that also.

I'm glad the club haven't wanted to bring a player in just to sit about and play the odd game if that's your point. There's already plenty of voices in the dressing room who've been through lots of highs and lows already.

If he's not bringing competition to play then the club have done absolutely the right thing. We've no room for passengers this season.

Well there isn't even a whisper of him speaking to the club, which doesn't mean that it hasn't happened, but I'm thinking that he has been ruled out based on his data: age, pace and playing style

Hence the recruiting team seeing no point in even speaking to him.

Ah well, personally I'd have had him back for his background, experience and leadership on and off the pitch.

But we're recruiting in a different way and he might not have fitted in to what the club want from someone in that position.

I'm not sure the recruitment staff would see it as them "getting a decision wrong" as it appears he was never a consideration.

And I do remember a poster on here (me actually...) pompously telling doubters about the positive impact that the experience and leadership brought by Grant Leadbitter would have on the team.

Yeah...

I wonder who the next signing will be...?

Kinda pleased he’s not coming back, lost all respect for the lad when he left Liverpool.
Him coming back would be the kind of nostalgic thing we’ve done in the past.one last payday etc etc
If he came here jordan Henderson would be the story not Sunderland AFC. Take the media circus elsewhere and we can carry on building.
Not saying we don’t need some experience thrown in cos we do but it doesn’t have to be the prodigal son/local hero story.

Well, it's more than plausible, as those are very good points in which not to sign a player.

I'm eased he's not comimg back. Just not rhe right profile for us ... or probably him....at the moment. Stick with seeking young hungry no baggage talent o long contracts

Has any returning player ever worked out for us?

Borini was shit, Defoe was shit, Danny graham was shit twice can't think of anymore but I'm glad we are moving past this strange obsession with bringing players back.

Bracewell, Robson worked really well so it does work
Different days mate, the pace of the game now demands that exra yard and snap that hunger brings . Remember Hoddle dropping ever deeper and strolling? You dont even get time as a CB now with the high press let alone as a midfielder
