Ajax seem quite happy to let him just walk.
Have to ask yourself why.

€80000 whyAjax seem quite happy to let him just walk.

Where does it state he's interested?I'm not buying the "huge affection" schtick.
He could have shown an interest when he left Liverpool, but he chased thd Saudi money.
He could have shown an interest when he went to Ajax, but he didn't.
Now we are back in the big time, suddenly he's interested again.
Can see the benefits, but it won't break my heart if it doesn't happen.

I know that for a fact too (unless I'm being lied to). I would personally have liked us to sign him on a one year contract but there you go.
You've made your point and it was beyond ridiculous, talking about team talks FFS
They clearly haven't missed anything as we've already brought in experience at the back.
This. It’s been reported for some weeks that Ajax wanted his salary off the books.€80000 why
Let’s see how the season pans out.And that would be because we didn't sign Henderson would it?? Ha ha! Ffs man!![]()
He has been interested previously.I'm not buying the "huge affection" schtick.

Agree. A very bad decision. I’d love to know Soeakmans rationale. There's some absolute nonsense being spouted on this thread. If nothing else, Jordan Henderson will encapsulate what it means to represent Sunderland AFC, as if the new lads won't realise when they first experience a rocking SOL.
To suggest that a model professional who is renowned for looking after his body, a player who is a natural leader and current country international has nothing to bring to a squad who will in large part now be strangers to eachother, borders on insanity.
Like @Rocky77 says, right up under that bar of mental statements.

Massive mistake imho. If you are right more than happy to be proved wrong.
Fair enough but given Speakman or RLB and the vast majority of our players have no premier league experience and we have an opportunity of signing a champions league and premier league winning captain and they decide not to it’s a massive mistake imho.Like I said I'd have brought him in as a squad player, but I don't think our season is make or break on signing Henderson. There's far bigger problems than that, like if we can't get a good CB pairing sorted, then we'll struggle, or maybe if we don't get another striker in who has a good goalscoring record at a higher level than our current lot.

Well either we didn't want him, or he wasn't interested enough. He has been interested previously.
This is an important question, I agree. Suggests Ajax think he's not worth the wages to keep him, unless there's a better reason we aren't aware of. I'd definitely be concerned if Ajax don't think he's worth keeping because I'd hazard a guess the PL with Sunderland will be a much tougher gig than staying there.Has anyone got any idea why Liverpool let Henderson go for his dalliance with the Saudi League, only for him to end up at Ajax, who have then released him from his contract a year early?
Speakman didn’t want him 18 months ago. He isn’t going to want him now.Let’s see how the season pans out.

Simple as that.If RLB wants him, we'll get him.
If he doesn't, we won't.
Everyone who's wanting him seems to think he'll be able to bring these lads on when they've been through more character building seasons and promotions than any team talk Henderson is likely to give.
He's also been out of the PL for a number of years, stroking the ball about at teams who command the lions share of possession. He'll be ran off his tits in the PL with a team that's just gained promotion.
