Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

For all our signings with Speakman and RLB they haven’t got any or very little premier league experience or nous.

We have a local lad who has captained a team to the premier league and European champions league who is keen to rejoin his home town club.

If we don’t go for JH it’s a massive mistake imho and one that can undo all the good work that’s been done.

If it’s Speakmans decision I would love to hear his rationale.

Let’s see what your view is if we get off to a poor start.

And that would be because we didn't sign Henderson would it?? Ha ha! Ffs man! 🤣

He’s 35. His legs were going towards the end of his time at Liverpool and how many years ago was that. He isn’t coming back. There’s been no contact at all and I know that for a fact. People need to look to the future and forget about signing former players who’s best days are behind them.
I know that for a fact too (unless I'm being lied to). I would personally have liked us to sign him on a one year contract but there you go.

Wise words Father

We also have short term to think of. It's amazing people can't see that. A squad of untested, inexperienced players heading into a season that will be incredibly hard. An older head to see is through difficult games would be more than welcome.

Everyone who's wanting him seems to think he'll be able to bring these lads on when they've been through more character building seasons and promotions than any team talk Henderson is likely to give.

He's also been out of the PL for a number of years, stroking the ball about at teams who command the lions share of possession. He'll be ran off his tits in the PL with a team that's just gained promotion.
really good older players dont run around like an 18 year old. their experience allows the ball to do its running

Bobby Moore was a great example of this. He never looks (looked) as though he broke into a sweat and never had a hair out of place, but what a fantastic player he was and the other players really respected him

Wtf 😂😂
You don't think a bloke who has captained Liverpool to every domestic honour and to Champions league victory, Captained his country and played over 80 times for them and has played with some truly brilliant players and under great coaches can't help our lads?

Fuck me

It’s really surprising. Fine if you didn’t want him on balance, whatever. But to say he has nothing to offer a new premier league squad is madness

I don't think it's a necessity. They're not exactly kids anymore with the amount of games played and the tough games they've been through.

I'm not sure any of them would be happy to lose their place to a 35 Yr old, especially the lads we've just forked out an absolute fortune for.

We can't afford to have any of the first 11 standing about and expecting the ball to do the work. That wasn't even what Henderson was good at at Liverpool ffs 🤣

He started a game for England recently which would suggest he can still cover the pitch ok. After all, he’s regarded as a very hard trainer so imagine his legs will still be fine

Yep, beyond laughable really, current England International potentially joining a young side and club he retains a huge affection for. JH is class act and calming influence on the field and someone who carries an even greater influence off it.

It’s all about opinions with any player but for the life of me I can’t see why the club would not want Henderson around this group.

They'd see a bloke who has been there and done it and have instant respect and learn from him.

The game against Andorra's part timers?? Aye, see if he gets a game against France or Spain.

I'm not buying the "huge affection" schtick.

He could have shown an interest when he left Liverpool, but he chased thd Saudi money.

He could have shown an interest when he went to Ajax, but he didn't.

Now we are back in the big time, suddenly he's interested again.

Can see the benefits, but it won't break my heart if it doesn't happen.

Or maybe they just wouldn't be bothered and would rather play?

Anyway, I've said my bit, I get it doesn't go with the Henderson wankathon, but there you go, each to their own.

Send your points over to the club by their email, they've clearly missed all these advantages to having Henderson while they've been putting together a strong young, gifted, and mobile squad 👍

You've made your point and it was beyond ridiculous, talking about team talks FFS 😂😂

They clearly haven't missed anything as we've already brought in experience at the back.

Baffled by anyone against this. Even if he doesn’t play a lot of games he will be invaluable for his leadership in this young team.
20 minutes to go we are under the cosh1-1 away from home and Dan Neil is knackered starting to pass everything to the opposition.
Not sure of a better player we could get to bring on.
