Boro thread

Football success tends to come in cycles for teams like Sunderland and Boro. Sometimes you are up and sometimes you are on the way down. Sometimes you are stuck in the middle ( where we are now).

Sunderland are clearly on an up at the minute. If you manage to stay in the PL next season, that would top this years achievement. But in reality that will be really, really difficult.
As some of the more fair minded posters have pointed out, maybe you shouldn’t sneer too much at other teams as, if it doesn’t work out, it likely you will be getting it throw back you.

So, you meant bigger but actually used the word better?
Could I politely suggest a dictionary could be of use for you?
I'm not sneering, I'm just stating facts.

What we have achieved is massive for the club. It gives us a finger hold into the big money of the Premier League. Obviously I hope we go from strength to strength.

However, if we don't it's still 4 seasons worth of very good cash. If we get relegated we'd have 3 strikes at getting promoted again and the cycle would start again.

Boro aren't on that cycle and looking at you are unlikely to get on it next season because you have a pretty poor side.

But, didn't you get parachute money the last time you dropped from the premier league, like the anomaly that was/is Luton?

Or by 'yo yo' do you mean between the 2nd and 3rd tier?

I understand the excitement about promotion and stuff, but do you not think you're getting ahead of yourselves a bit?
Boro

We are miles ahead of Boro now. We are at worse a parachute money club, likely to yo yo between the divisions joining the likes of Leeds, Burnley, Sheffield United, Leicester etc. (Obviously there is the odd anomaly like Luton).

Boro are not in that bracket, won't have our quality of player and won't have the money we have to spend due to PSR.

We have made a massive leap ahead. Boro are still on the starting blocks.
Of course we are and I really don't think they will be anywhere near promotion next season but if somehow they do and we go down they'd have the right to give it back and while I wouldn't be thrilled about it I would certainly understand.

Last time we came down we were hemorrhaging money and had a dissolussioned chairman who just wanted rid and the parachute money went to try and stem the flow.
This time we seem to have our heads screwed on with a solid plan so if we do drop the parachute money would be reinvested in the club. Ngl you seem to be going backwards and it's going to be a real slog getting out of that league

boro are the turd that wont flush on here
but i actually dont mind boro .i dont dislike them, leeds and coventry i do and obviously the mags the most

we got the big bucks though now. of course it will be hard to stay up, who is saying otherwise, but who cares about a boro fan, posting for days on here clutching at straws trying to tell us we could easily get relegated.
get a grip man. shall i post for days on your forum telling you how much harder it will be next year to reach the playoffs?

we are a better club regardless of league positions yes. you seem to misunderstand what i mean by club and not the actual team
You didn’t use the word club in your initial post which I said smacked of arrogance.
And it turns out you meant bigger but actually said better.
Can you see why people might be misinterpreting what you actually mean to say?

Post where you want to post mate, that bits entirely up you. This thread does have Boro in the title so it’s likely to attract a few Boro fans.

mate get over it... i said we will always be better than boro and thats true.... better and bigger.... you seem to be ignoring my post when i said boro had a better team when we were in league 1... but as i said, we were and are still better and bigger..... but if you want to do me on a technicality then fine.... i will pretend you got promoted and we didnt.

like i said dont mind boro... and it wasnt particularly you... it was the other one lecturing us about how bad it is to call clubs tin pot, when a simple search on your forum brings up plenty of examples of your fans doing the same.

its not arrogant to say we are a bigger and better club because in league one, we were.
and lets be honest....lot of your fans said no safc player would get in your side

Our head of football Kieran Scott wanted Edwards instead of Carrick but Carrick was Gibson's call.

This time Gibson has said to Scott let's go with your man.

I'm happy enough. 2 promotions on his CV and he has a very good working relationship with Scott.
