Boro thread

Its odd with Boro really.

They've spent a lot of money yet don't seem to have progressed. Even in 2022/23 it was a house of cards as the lads that came in and made a difference were loans, as soon as they didn't go up they went back and then there were huge gaps in the squad. I get that Carrick had a succession of key players sold from under him, but the recruitment in replacing those players has typically been poor. January encapsulated this - Latte Lath went and Iheanacho came in. I think only Boros recruitment team thought that was a good idea, a player that can't be arsed to put effort in for Sevilla isn't coming to Teesside and looking the slightest bit arsed. £6m on Whittaker who was an absolute waste of shirt. Then defensively, they flogged Clarke, who whilst limited could actually defend. They went back to get Giles cause he was good three seasons back, his best moment came against us with a stellar finish into his own net. What was left was keystone cops stuff. This summer again, the managerial appointment is key, and then its a case of trying to replace whats sold. Both Hackney and Azaz are linked away.

I'm well aware this may not get answered for a while by a smoggie til they win a game and we lose but I've walked roseberry topping this morning (it was not enjoyable 🤦🏻‍♂️😂) then my mate had a drive around borough and we went to where ayresome park used to be as we both a little too young to have visited anyway came through Stockton on way home just for a drive out and my mate asked do boro fans hate Stockton lads fans like we dee durham mags??
Roseberry topping has to be one of if not the shittest walk going. Takes less than 15 minutes to climb a hill and rammed with live laugh love types and people who rarely leave their urban areas posting pictures and quotes from the top

I suppose its entry level for people looking to go walking and hiking.
Not too demanding, but can give an idea what to expect on a more demanding route.

It’s alright we are just going to take Rohl from
Wednesday
Rohl inbound?

I agree. Carrick is getting a lot of the blame, but they haven't replaced genuinely good players very well at all.

Apparently Carrick pushed for the club to sign Giles and Iheanacho. He believed he could get Giles back to his best, and wanted Iheanacho to be a strong physical presence playing in the no 10 role. This had previously worked well for Carrick when he played Akpom as a 10.

He actually wanted the club to sign them on permanent deals but the club insisted they would only bring them in on loan (thank god).

Have a like , thats a pretty accurate summation of Boro's current plight.

It was a very dicey place to go Ayresome Park. I had far more bother there than St James. My first ever away game in 1982, I was 15, there was fighting in the ground for the entirety of the game as Boro were letting Sunderland fans in anywhere. I observed it from the front of the Holgate!

On a night match about 10 years later I managed to misplace my car. I thought it near the bus station, it was actually near the bus depot! 5 of us were walking about looking for it when about a dozen Boro started quizzing us. We legged it into an industrial estate and got split up. 3 of eventually found the car. The other 2 ended up having scrap, think 1 might have got lifted. We drove around for ages looking for them to no avail. I think my mate ended up scrounging a lift home.

No.
You're so desperate.to be hated.

Your promotion was well deserved.
But, folk go on on here as if you're Man City.
The cockiness is a bit silly - seeing as you haven't even kicked off next season yet.
I don’t think it’s cockiness, it’s a response to you lot constantly telling us after a draw “the slide to mid table has started” and we will be well above them by (10 games, Christmas, etc etc) when the reality was you didn’t spend a single minute of the season above us. You can hardly blame fans for now sticking it to Boro fans, you were so f***ing arrogant before a ball was kicked.

We know very well what this coming season holds, but at least now we are an extremely well run club and our recruitment is top drawer. Given that we have more than a fair chance. It’s easy to just predict the teams going up will be relegated without knowing a lot about the club, its strategy and who they will buy. We will stay up. It won’t be comfortable at times but we will do it.

Football has a habit of kicking you in the bollocks thus stopped gloating years ago.
One step forward usually is soon followed by two steps back.

In our case feels that it’s never any step forward.
So much going on. Massive fanbase spilt and hoping this nightmare comes to its end.
Hope you are well.

Giles is an odd one. Obviously he did well last time in term of assists but could he actually defend? Genuine question as I didn't see enough to know.

Nearly every Boro fan could see how Iheanacho was going to go, its mad that Carrick couldn't. As I said, if you can't be arsed to put the effort in at Sevilla you aren't going to do so at Boro, with all due respect.

Its a big summer. An ambitious managerial appointment might get an extra year out of Azaz and Hackney. Crying out for Dieng and van der Berg back, then two decent fullbacks (Enzo retired the ponytailed one), a centre back and a proper goalscorer.

Of course it's cockiness.
A few people on a message board went on like you say (I wasn't one of em btw).
Albeit it ended with your promotion , but the season just gone is the first season in eight? years that you've finished above us, yet you lot (easy to generalise isn't it?) go on as if you 've left us behind, whilst a fair few are already calling the likes of Bournemouth and Brentford 'tinpot'.

And the 'we will stay up' is a tad premature really.
You may well stay up, but equally you could be marooned at the bottom by Christmas - possibly with us poised to pass you on the way.

These things have a habit of not lasting forever, as you last relegation from the premier league proved.
