Good luck with that. My daughter is 14 now, and I still chew that she is not enjoying herself when we go to gigs together. Cannot totally get into it, for worry about them. It never stops.

Yeah really good, atmosphere was excellentDidn't know they were playing. Any good?
The bit that nearly tipped me over the edge was the rant part 2 where she said " do you get me ? " little response ,and she said" just the women then" like us blokes are all the same !!I was close to walking out, thought she went on like a bit of a kernt, and was totally uncalled for. Thats the last time I will go to see them again
She turned it into a David Moyes gig
She was like vinegar tits last night in comparison
Bit gutted the Indie Showcase yest was postponed till Autumn, id heard theyd only sold 30 ticketsWell Munro delivered, great day, and unbelievable value for bands on show;
Second time ive seen M60, this was better venue for sound and enjoyed them much more, proper swirly Manchester guiter vibe (think The Music..),
The Kairos, dunno what to say, 3/4 times ive seen them and these guys are simply superb, great songs, great vocals, id say they are the best band ive seen in these small venues for a long time - they have to make it bigger imo,
Michael Gallagher, jangly guitar fun, not great but not bad at all,
The Clause headlined, and again similar to the Kairos, have some big big songs, had crowd proper jumping by the end, great band.
Looking forward to next Sat, not seen Pastel before but heard good things, and i know Shambolics and The Covasettes are both quality, Utopiates were good last time seen them as well
£17 for 11 bands!
What’s the new date mate? I might be able to make it Sunderland fixtures dependingBit gutted the Indie Showcase yest was postponed till Autumn, id heard theyd only sold 30 ticketsshame as these events usually well attended in Stockton. They blamed other events on in the area but not quote sure what that meant?
Paul Smith intimate solo gig at Georgian theatre tonight, bit weird its seated but looking forward to it

No one got her ,even a lass at the front said what's he done ..
8th Nov mate, yeah I’m concerned about big fixture clash now too! What’s the new date mate? I might be able to make it Sunderland fixtures depending
I didn't know the background and even without a back story it was just uncalled for . Shame all round really . Sounds like they wanted the Hebden bridge crowd again . Instant atmosphere. Sometimes you have to play the room . Different gig ,different punters.I'm glad she got told in no uncertain terms that she fucked up and apologised after the event but if it hadn't been such a prominent member of the crowd nothing would have happened and the unlucky target would have had to slope off feeling f***ing miserable and probably really self conscious at other gigs in future. i think she doubled down to try and be funny after not getting the response she expected because she didn't realise she picked on someone a lot of the crowd prefer to them!

I work at Pop Recs. Not every gig that happens there is promoted by us so it can sometimes be difficult to know stage times ahead of time but we do what we can, often posting on stories when we know. The bands/promoters quite often don't push this either.I wasn't aware of that but found it very uncomfortable as an older bloke as it unfolded
I agree but have found pop recs a bit meh in the past for socials and last minute pushes . Not mentioning bands that night but pushing custard slices next door. I was a patreon for a while and stopped . Hopefully it's improving
The drop off in attendance for this gig compared to others may have had something to do with them putting a Newcastle gig on sale a few weeks before last night's gig.I was amazed to hear he's never actually booked them, i thought maybe it was a joke. He said he thought she was joking at first anarl
Fingers crossed.
I found it quite depressing for a few reasons, for a "music city" and I'm sure someone said (in this thread maybe) that it was sold out but it looked nowhere near, and id say 90% of the crowd was over 50. I'm not a teenagers myself anymore but it doesn't scream sustainable when venues struggle to attract youngsters
Just speaking as I see it . Looks like this gig was a big improvement on comms . Stage times is a bonus but not a biggy to me .Surely a promoter wouldn't stop you posting about an event the day, week before? Particularly if there's tickets to sell .I work at Pop Recs. Not every gig that happens there is promoted by us so it can sometimes be difficult to know stage times ahead of time but we do what we can, often posting on stories when we know. The café is a huge part of what we do, also.
Sounds like you've got one in particular you're referring to. Hard to comment without knowing which one. Sounds like you knew it was happening though so there's that! But agreed, you can never have too much promotion.Just speaking as I see it . Looks like this gig was a big improvement on comms . I get the cafe bit and theres a case for plugging both . Sounds like I'm about right
Day before gig no boost or info but a post about something in the cafe . I'm only really interested in the venue and it sounds like venues bands and promoters could do better .
It would be handy if you pinned a post to the top of your Twitter page that lists forthcoming events. I know it sold out but I, and at least one other on here didn't know Shonen Knife played recently. I found out by chance a day or two beforehand.I work at Pop Recs. I'm not there loads but they're never really well attended yet good gigs I seem to pick . I get tickets then keep an interest prior .Sounds like you've got one in particular you're referring to. It's a good show. Particularly if you haven't seen him before.Danny Baker this Friday at the Tyne Theatre..something a bit different for me but looking forward to it.
