BA sale now on

Not too bad, I’ve managed to get up to gold and maintain it for the past 3 years, I was one flight away from hitting platinum last year.
I mainly use them as they get me from the Middle East back to home at a decent time in the morning but I do need to fly through the night

If I do change to another FF I'd like to stick with OneWorld so I will investigating Iberia as I fly to Spain the most (although as part of IAG they will be on the same path as BA), Finnair and Qatar who I tend to use for my annual Asian trip.

I love Bristol, keep saying to my wife I could probably live in a square mile around Harbourside and have everything I need.

I was a student in Bristol in the late 90s though spent more time drinking than studying. Most of that harbourside area was just empty warehouses at the time but revdelopment was starting as part of the millennium plans. One of the best example of urban regeneration in the country.

Next got on with Bristol airport though as it was always easier to go down to Heathrow or up to Birmingham. They really should have relocated it to RAF Filton when that closed as it had better road and rail connections and had longer runways.

In too minds about this. It's clearly a crap move and I thought I would just end up dumping BA and moving to KLM as at the moment I have status on both but won't be able to maintain that going forward anyway.

However BA are going to credit the cost of the hotels as well if you book with them and we usually do book car hire and hotels with them as well as long as they remain competitive. So it might not work out too bad. Will need to do the maths.

slightly different subject, just got an email from BA saying have to check in at airport rather than online as unavailable, the flight isnt until September:D

Could be that the flight is being supplied by another Carrier? I've had that before.

I've also had it when the flight has been oversold and I ended up on Stand By and eventually got upgraded to Business.

got the same email about 30 minute later, think someone has pressed wrong button.

he knows his stuff does Matt. I was half expecting him to be balanced and pull his punches a bit, but it looks like he hasnt at all going off the thumbnail

Yes, he's one of the best aviation YouTubers around. Unlike many he doesn't make it all about himself, whine about trivial problems in first class or how many free flights he can blag for favourable reviews.

Worth watching the whole thing when you have the time. Even goes as far as saying he would support a class action against BA over how this has brought in. BA are perfectly entitled to make changes to their scheme but questions need to be asked over how it was communicated, the speed of change (affecting some bookings already made) and the scale of the impact on people who had been customers for 20 years or more

couldn't agree more.

It was 100% done over Christmas because people are busy with other things. There were a myriad of other changes they could have done to help sort any issues they had (or think they had) with lounges etc, but this isn't designed to do that. Its purely a measure to stop giving anything in rewards for loyalty, by making it almost unattainable for everyone except the wealthy or business sponsored travelers.

Searched that and its expensive…

Im currently in the final process of leaving BA. Got a few avios to spend with them before i move completely to KLM/Skyteam.

Have to say BA still is amazing when it comes to onboard service, but sadly the rest of what they offer is below par. Price especially

I’ve been Gold BA for many years but that will end next spring.

Recently got status match for Virgin and I’m flying them upper class for my next Big trip away (India and Sri Lanka Jan/Feb next year - into Bangalore and back from Delhi).

Was great to book premium cabin flights without the hundreds of pounds of extra that BA tend to charge!

Same here. I have Silver until next spring but with all of the changes to the BAEC there is zero chance I will be able to maintain my status after that so I'm just burning as many Avios as possible on trips while I still get all of the perks.

There was a sky team status match that might still be on, I was silver and got matched to their equivalent which was gold.

Cost £100 but has been well worth it in terms of pre-selecting seats and getting lounge access etc especially when travelling for work which is usually via Schipol.

Might be worth a look if you can travel with KLM or Air France
