BA sale now on

Fuck me that's expensive, more than I've ever paid to go there :)
I've just paid for a flight last night to the other side of the world that's less than half of that.
I thought the same - that price can’t be for Economy Class surely? I’m about to book a flight to Cape Town for just over a grand and it’s 3 times further than Dubai

They've gone very poor in the last 10 years and I've had better service from what many would class as "Budget Airlines"

I don't know what the cause of it is, the stewards all seem to be significantly older when compared to other airlines and have a sense of entitlement that you don't see at other airlines. Don't know what BA is like to work for or their pension but there definitely seems to be a significantly older workforce than compared to others.

This latest situation reminds me of when BA got rid of the free food/snacks on domestic flights about 7 year back or so. Then tried to spin it as a positive as we would now be able to purchase a selection of food from M&S
so their cabin crew I have always found to be excellent. kind attentive and very hard working. some flights are seem a little older but I've always found it mixed really.

Its the constant whittling down on offering and service that people are fed up with. this latest EC shake up is only a month or so after the slashed inflight catering for business and first long haul, and a few months since they changed Avios to essentially become worth much less and harder to earn.

There is no redeeming feature to make people travel with them now in my eyes. Unless you have your tickets paid for by a firm or company, which essentially in the long run means they can charge more

Said it about them for years now they’re a budget airline at premium prices, binned them off years ago and settled on KLM

I know they get a lot of criticism (often from people who haven't flown them for years) but I've never had a major problem with BA. I do like their style of onboard service which is more at the professional end of the spectrum than the over-friendly type you get some carriers and at least they don't try to sell you lottery tickets.

What you do get are more flights from major airports at decent times rather an 6am slots at aerodromes in the middle of nowhere and they are more likely to be able to do something to help when things go wrong.

The lack of free catering in Euro economy didn't really bother me. For a 2-3 hour flight, either go without, buy before departure or if you have to, on board.

However, this change is one too far and it will certainly change the way I choose flights once I lose my Silver status in 2026. Might be fun to start experimenting with other airlines.

We’re flying with Air France in April…was purely on cost as BA was about double the price, but like you say, the default search won’t be BA going forward, and the other options may become more attractive when it’s a level playing field.

Just you wait...

Always been helpful in my experience by rebooking onto another flight when there has been a cancellation or missed connection. Would Ryanair or EasyJet do the same?

Problem BA has had for years is that their customer base wanting flag carrier service at low cost carrier prices while operating out of one of the world's most expensive airports.

Last cancelled flight with EasyJet, they rebooked me onto a flight for the following day, but as for help, nothing. Basically left on my own to find accommodation in Bristol for the night.

what's KLM's frequent flyer program like?
Not too bad, I’ve managed to get up to gold and maintain it for the past 3 years, I was one flight away from hitting platinum last year.
I mainly use them as they get me from the Middle East back to home at a decent time in the morning but I do need to fly through the night
