Just hold the phone up, turn the recording on the app and it will pick out the sounds and picture the birds.

Have to say I tried it out for the first time on the dog walk this Morning.
Impressed as I could hear 4 birds and knew the sounds. The app noted a Whitethroat, Skylark, Wood Pigeon and Crow.

That Irish kid on tonight, bless him, recording all the birds in Ireland. He’s only got 2 more to go apparently.

I could definitely do with him going for a trip down the etangs with us next week back out in Brittany as it’s all those reed warblers etc that are my blind (deaf) spot in identifying.

Likely to hear a cuckoo wherever you find Reed Warblers.

Our owl boxes/baskets look popular again this season. That time of the year where we're keeping a close eye on them. Keeping everything crossed for another successful season. We have another box to put up this week on private woodland.

Just watching it now class, i wish i could tell which birds they are singing near me

I just downloaded it and have already confirmed a bird i wasn’t too sure about last time I was out in Brittany is almost certainly a hen harrier.

I’ll swot up a bit more on them and hope to catch a glimpse again from next week.

App looks really good so far. I like the way it lists the birds you’re likely to see by your location. I’ve seen most the ones it listed out there over the years.

Only used the sound app so far and it’s very good.
Need to find one that I’m not sure about to help me.

I could hear a Goldcrest on my walk this morning and played the sound and picked it up immediately. Loads of Whitethroats clearly nesting in the hawthorn hedgerow.

Decent app mate.

This was just reading the description and looking at some of the photos. It was the white on the wings and the description of its flight pattern which more or less confirmed it for me.

It's brilliant, I'm quite new to it all, so to have the information at hand is great. Ironically keeps me off my phone more as I'm always looking up and in places I wouldn't normally. Proper connection to nature 👍
 
The fox I've seen a couple of times this last week wasn't as beautiful as that

Right mangey skinny thing. And proper angry at me the other night so must have cubs near
 
Short Eared Owl story was horrible lastnight, same as the other owl story. But i guess they have to film it and show it for research reasons
