The Pep myth

Getting bogged down by his own philosophy, giving he changed how the game is played in the top divisions to the lower divisions and making his own downfall, toys out the pram when the lower teams over celebrate.

Saw that, looked classless.

Boring bellend.
It’s annoyed me

I’ve seen since that he’s said, how he makes his team play football that people want to see. I’m sorry, but give me counter attacking excitement over possession, low creativity. On top of that, Palace time wasted…utter nonsense from a bitter bloke who has been caught up. We’ve seen it with Mourinho and it’s happening again. Klopp would have been the same but he has done the wise thing.

You are oh so correct. His football is so boring and rigid . I hate watching city.
Longest he's been at a club as manager isn't it? Time for a fresh start as he probably can't rebuild teams, replacing de bruyne will be virtually impossible
Replacing the current de bruyne would be a doddle , but I take your point.

A couple of notes extracted from today's Guardian. Barney Ronay describing City as "a collection of ghosts stuck in the same deathly patterns".
What a sentence!
Johnathan Wilson on Pep overthinking yet again, notes that Henderson probably said something untoward to Pep provoking his uncharacteristically angry reaction towards a player.

Yeah it’s a matter of taste / opinion but I just don’t like peps football, at least city’s. Cynical team too, fouling out of possession against the counter constantly.

Klopp’s chaotic Liverpool team were a far better watch imo.

Henderson said something to Guardiola about 10 mins stoppage time, probably suggesting that he gets Pep time just like Ferguson got Fergie time. That's what caused the dialogue between them

Pretty much found out this season and has spent a lot of money. No doubt he'll get shit loads of money again to spend, he'll "bounce back" and the media will think he's amazing etc. Delighted Palace beat them yesterday and the way he went on with Henderson at the end

I think football is worse for managers trying to emulate his style of play. It’s boring to watch. Delighted Palace won.

As for Pep he’s only managed the top teams. The ones with money. I know that’s due to him being successful that only the top teams want him and it’s a different kind of pressure managing them. But I’d love to see him take on a mid-table or a struggling team and see how he gets on without throwing cash at the problem. See if he can coach a team of less talented players into achieving something

I find his tippy tappy style of football boring to watch tbh.

Unfortunately it’s been very effective and just about every coach in the country has tried to copy it.

I hate to say it but the high press of Liverpool and even the horse-punching awabs is much better to watch.

Broadly agree. I also think the generally wide acceptance and adoption of Pep's methods have also driven what's becoming the antidote: low block packed defence so there's no room for the tic tac stuff, then break - played brilliantly yesterday by Palace and effectively by us twice in the last week.

Palace did waste time, absolutely. But there was also about 11 minutes of added time! Man City wasted their own time as much as anything, playing square balls along the backline when time running out. They've stopped shooting, and the passing and movement isn't slick or quick enough. They were just boring and lacking ideas, tbh.

I’ve never enjoyed watching his teams play. Even going back as far as the Barcelona team he had that everyone used to fawn over. Possession for possession’s sake just passing the ball amongst themselves at a slow tempo for the entire game.
