Elland road upgrade

Give them 7k when they are average in the championship and they won't. United and Liverpool because they are huge clubs. Leeds because they have a huge population and catchment. Is it really impressive a population of well over a million can sell 7k tickets or have a waiting list of 25k. I don't think so it's just maths and geography. Clubs with small catchment and big crowds even when crap for decades impress me.

Leeds would like. Sold out every game when they're were shit

We were talking about home support numbers not away support, two different things. Never knocked their away support, and tbh wasn’t even knocking their home support either. I was just pointing out fanbases can be and are in some cases very big and bloated by numbers of fair weathers so it doesn’t necessarily equate to giant attendances all the time. Historic attendances show Leeds and us have very similar hardcore fanbases with us slightly ahead on attenders, I would say their overall fanbase would be bigger though if hypothetically every Leeds fan in the country was counted and every SAFC fan was, which is dictated by a mix of geography and club performance. They have sadly had higher highs and more of them than we have over the last 50-60 years. Mags used to not sell out all their aways for what it’s worth either, until 2021 obviously.

The mags seemed to used to sell all bar everton out for some reason, quite bizarre

Seeing as Leeds’ home attendances are of such interest to Sunderland fans, lets add a bit of context.

Sunderland's 25/26 adult ST price for behind the goals is £490.

In 2012/13 (just as an example and I have the prices to hand) an adult ST at Leeds in the Kop was £582. I'd like to see how many STs Sunderland would sell at £582 now, or at the inflation adjusted price of £824.56.

All during a period of boycotting Bates.

Poor Ken - he was only there 5 years and gets blamed for 17 years of poor attendances.

More Leeds bellends signing up talking about attendances ffs

And if you tell them their club anthem is a dreadful dirge of a tune then they really show up.

They're so much like the Mags in their delusions it's frightening.

Leeds boycotted for 16 years 😆 terrible attendances after the champions league years. Something sunderland have never had.

Sunderland have done nothing of note for 50 years, no euro football, about 3 top 10 finishes, no cups, record low points in the prem twice, double relegation, bought by chancers with its parachute payments, four seasons in league one and still beat and compete for attendances with Leeds utd that's had success and has a population/catchment of well over one million. Imagine if Sunderland were ever good.

As for ticket pricing, you charge what your location can afford, same with housing, food, beer etc etc. Sunderland on average is poorer that Leeds.

Another Leeds newbie

Boycott of Bates

Just admit your fanbase deserted the club for 15 years, it’s there in black and white

High prices, no doubt. But Leeds is also one of the country’s most prosperous cities and one of the biggest with a population around 3 to 4 times the size of Sunderland, not to mention all the support you draw in and dominate in from across north, west and east Yorkshire. Those factors balance that out a bit.

They used to take the lower allocations at some grounds as well. I’ve seen their own fans admit it themselves about how easy it used to be to get away tickets during their Ashley years. It’s why so many boot off now about the fact so many of their away ends are going to daytripper types now and lads and lasses who used to go but gave in their season tickets can’t get tickets anymore.

When was the last time Leeds failed to sell out an away game? I reckon if you give Leeds 7k for every away game this season they'd sell the lot. They're in the category of Man United and Liverpool as the only clubs who could do that imo.

1. Man United
2. Liverpool
3. Leeds
4. Mags
5. Tottenham
6. Arsenal
7. Us

Yep - definitely on the pop, you...... go have a lie down for half an hour, eh?

Leeds is a very affluent city with higher incomes on average. Ticket prices for each club probably reflect the same average % of disposable income for our respective fanbases.
It's hard to get solid figures, but it appears that the average income in Leeds is around £8-10k more than Sunderland. That is quite a bit more available to spend on football. People don't realise just how deprived our region and city is compared to other areas, and that it makes our attendances even more impressive.

We have the best away support in the league too which is remarkable considering we have the furthest to travel, besides Plymouth.

I think it's the same person opening multiple accounts with different aliases - trying to pretend there's more of them than there is in reality - similar to the topic they keep posting about.

Get the admin to check IPs

Could just be this thread has been mentioned on a Leeds forum or page, I can't imagine taking the time and effort signing up to another board just to defend our attendance...

You’re acting like Leeds is London. Leeds United’s support is predominantly working class. Would you pay £800 plus for the cheapest season ticket for next season?

Why are Sunderland tickets always so cheap?

if owners could get away with charging more they would but they know if they take the piss the fans will vote with their feet and rightly so.

Until the ground move most seasons Leeds averaged a lot more people than Sunderland.
Traditionally Wearside, the many towns and mining areas of Co Durham and South Tyneside were Sunderland strongholds. These areas have suffered high unemployment, movement of families to other coalfields in UK and social deprivation . In past assessments of average earnings of football fans in England we have been at the bottom of this financial league. In comparison NUFC were above mid table in being more prosperous in the same assessment.
This is the main reason that prices have been kept lower than average.
When the crowd limit at Roker Park was reduced to 21,000 in 1990’s for safety reasons and the Roker End proved to be crumbling and unsafe. This obviously kept the average crowds low until the SOL was completed and ready for occupancy.
A ground whose official attendance was 75,118 in 1933 and unofficial police estimates of over 70,000 crammed in and onto the cinder track and 50,000 locked out in 1964. I was one of them in that mad crush, who never got in and feel lucky that I survived when others perished.
Let’s see these records that these Leeds fans purport to be true ???

I find it very weird how a Sunderland forum has a 11 page thread on a Leeds Utd stand development, they're obsessed with the club.

I'm very weird and insecure being on a Sunderland message board after midnight on a weeknight as a non sunderland fan but how has a Sunderland forum have a 11 page thread on a Leeds Utd stand development, they're obsessed with the club.
Just proof sunderland average over 40k on message boards too. Another thing Leeds can't do.

Sunderland fans are obsessed with football. All football fans are obsessed with football. Football is the new religion.
