Getting promoted - do we actually want it?


We can do it! I believe RLB has a game plan to outsmart opponents like Sheffield United, Bristol City, or Coventry, who might think they can beat us using similar tactics from past games. However, I'm confident RLB isn't foolish and has advised the players to take it easy to avoid any more injuries. When the playoffs start, we'll be ready with increased intensity. I'm sure of that.
 
If any season ticket holders donā€™t want promotion ā€¦ can I buy your Wembley tickets if we get there šŸ˜
 
Given what we stand to lose player wise, not having much confidence that we will invest suitably in replacements when/if that happens, and the division probably being stronger next season (the relegated teams plus those coming up from L1 with financial backing) - i'd say it is pretty bloody important for the future of the club that we go up this season.

Of course, the Premier League is going to be grim - but it's probably a case of either have 1 enjoyable season in every 2 for the time being; or just stagnate into Championship mediocrity.

Given the young squad that gets better every year, I think we have a chance to break the recent model of promotions.
 
The PL is probably due one of the clubs having a wobble or getting some kind of points deduction, you just need to stay up one season and hope to stay above the 3 promoted teams until you can build up your team.

I'd love that win championship regularly but not go into the money league above. However maybe that's cos I've seen us in the top league many seasons and visited every club in it watching us so maybe see why our younger fans would wanna go up so they can visit the man u's and arsenal's etc
 
even if we get relegated at the first attempt we will be in a position to grow again in the championship. we can then get promoted again with better players. We saw this year the benefit of the parachute when properly invested.
 
Of course we do. At the very least it would allow us to move into the yo-yo club bracket of Burnley/Leeds/Sheff United/Southampton and probably Ipswich next season. Would make promotion in a few seasons time far easier to achieve.
 
Go up & chances are we'll get humped every week but if we can keep these lads together & build on this exciting young squad you just never know.
Fail to go up though, this team breaks apart, we're starting from scratch again with a full rebuild & likely getting humped by Birmingham & Wrexham.
It will be a difficult season next season either way I recon so might as well take our chances in the prem.

Weā€™re going to need to get promoted at some point, and you just canā€™t decide when you do it. Itā€™s a tough league to get out of and you have to have grab the opportunity when a chance comes along.

Itā€™s mental the amount of fans on here saying ā€œnot this seasonā€.

We will then find out if our owner is serious about us or not.
Also much better away trips to be had in the prem.

And how do you propose to do that? The ones already with parachute money has locked out the top 2-3 places. Itā€™s impossible for clubs without parachute money to compete with them. In a one game scenario yes, you might take a point at home from them if you are lucky but as far as over the whole campaign, no. The likes of Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and Boro canā€™t replicate the same form and performances as the ones with parachute money over the whole season. They would quickly lose games on the trot because they are already shattered and itā€™s October.

People moan about the fact for the second consecutive season the same three who went up have gone down, but not a whisper from anyone when it comes to the same clubs who have just come down going back up.

Norwich have recently had parachute money. They fucked up. Sure Boro had parachute payments as well. Ipswich went up without them as did we in 2019-20. Our non parachute payment revenue is Ā£85m.
