We need to get into the Premier league soon and try to stay there as it's looking increasingly likely that it'll become a closed shop in the near future unfortunately

I think Mundle, Isidor and Mayenda would be OK because of their pace/directness. Le Fee and Mepham (if signed) would be OK too in all probability, The young ones like Bellingham, Rigg, Hume, Ballard, Cirkin, Patterson and Neil could possibly make the step - there's reportedly enough interest from PL clubs to suggest I'm not alone in thinking that. I would caveat that with they would probably not all be starting games at the same time.If by some miracle we went up we have to spend the entire 150m rights windfall to have even a sniff of a chance of staying up.
There's nobody in the team that'd get into a mid table premier league team. Who plays for us at the moment that stuck out as much as Clarke did? And how did he fare at Ipswich?
Turned over by Blackburn.Watching the Premier highlights and seeing Ipswich put up no fight against the Mags, I’m not sure how we go from getting turned over by Oxford and Blackburn to competing with established Premier League teams in a couple of months.
This team has some talent but it is miles off being able to compete in the PL. I honestly wouldn’t mind another season in this league and letting the young players develop and hopefully continue to improve.
I’m not sure I would enjoy a season of getting battered like Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton have had. Maybe these last few weeks are just sucking the life/positivity out of me.
We're currently getting 'stuffed every week' in the second division and plenty are applauding it.Of course I want to go up but if don't this season then it won't be a disaster. Just dust ourselves off and do it all again.
Just imagine what this place will be like getting stuffed every week in the Premier League.
Christ thats depressing...Promotion undoubtedly will mean a season of gloom next season, but we need to go up, to move forward even if that means relegation the season after.
I think technically what happens is winning promotion gives you the right to resign from the football league and apply to join the premier league. So I think you technically could just not exercise your right. I think it often happens at Northern League level where clubs don't want to progress up the ladder due to the increased cost of travel. Was just curious if anyone knew if it was in the rules that you could turn down promotion, maybe as a protest perhaps.
Yes Sunderland should want it. Demand it. Grasp it.Watching the Premier highlights and seeing Ipswich put up no fight against the Mags, I’m not sure how we go from getting turned over by Oxford and Blackburn to competing with established Premier League teams in a couple of months.

I'd love someone to do it to make the valid point that it's no longer a fair sporting contest. But would it make a difference? Very much doubt it.
Being honest I have no interest in the premier league, can't stand the VAR, can't stand the disparity in funding the closed shop, can't ever come to terms with watching players earning more a week than I do in a year who don't give a toss about the club and would rather be based in London/Manchester, don't like the coverage and we'll lose players like Jobe and Rigg regardless of being promoted.
But do I want us to get promoted this season. Absolutely yes. You simply have to join the gravy train (to even be able to compete at the top of the Championship) for the club to grow and I think a club of our stature and history should be competing at the highest level. Will I enjoy it? Almost certainly not but there's always watching the youth teams for seeing a true sporting contest while the first team scrapes around the bottom three all season.

So there'll be no change really.
If Sunderland aren't promoted then I would hope he would be gone..
What would be deemed successful for next season without calls for RLB to be sacked? Some will want him out even if we do go up.

Depends on other factors, not least ownership.
We are currently 4th and having an unbelievable season when you remember we finished 16th last year. Yet complete dodgeballs on here want the coach sackedWe're currently getting 'stuffed every week' in the second division and plenty are applauding it.

Promoted. Hammered every week. Relegated.Watching the Premier highlights and seeing Ipswich put up no fight against the Mags, I’m not sure how we go from getting turned over by Oxford and Blackburn to competing with established Premier League teams in a couple of months.

Give over man!To be fair, Ipswich were all over the mags until the ref and VAR decided things weren’t going to plan and gave every decision to Newcastle.
