Carlisle United

7 former Sunderland players on their books too, shows how far we have come as a club in the last few years. Some people said they wouldn’t have let Embleton go 18 months ago 😂
That said, I for one thought the lad would be at least a solid league 1 standard player if he got to stay fit and went to the right club for him. Surprised just a little how it’s turned out for him.

I always found him to be a very limited player but he got away with it because:

1) most 2 footed player I’ve seen for the club

2) don’t start much so always got away with “looking raw”

3) local lad

4) could be carried by the rest of the players, never looked one of our better footballers, not even in league 1.

I wanted him to do well when he left but knew he wasn’t good enough for the Championship, a bit disappointed that he hasn’t succeeded at a lower level and slightly surprised but when you get down those lower leagues you need consistent 7/8 out of 10 players. That was often our downfall in League 1 as well.

For those remotely Carlisle Utd interested: Chairman Tom Piatak put a club statement out last night following the day's events.

Why did they build a stand that was too long for the pitch. You’d get a right stiff neck sat in that corner trying to follow the game

That's the Carlisle way; same as the away end where you can't see over the front wall/fence so you have to go in the seats. Good job it's too long to take the extra customers & get the gate receipts up :).

Aye, Carlisle eh.
Wyke play for them still or has he been injured long term?
He's still there but out injured.

Shame about Carlisle, they appointed the right man but at the wrong time in my opinion.

More concerning they had the biggest budget in the league and got relegated.
Now stuck with some hefty contracts.
Should challenge to come back first time but it’s such a tough league to get out of.

Just goes to show, spending big doesn’t always bring the results you may expect if it’s on the wrong personalities and without a structured approach.

437 miles each way. Wow! For comparison Sunderland to London is 285 miles.
The Carlisle msg bd thread has opened on how the fans can get to Truro in time for the game (whenever it is) and the current logic is unless you go in your own transport you're stuffed basically as it's reckoned to be a couple of days job, an overnight sleeper or include a night in the cells.

Spending needs to be on the right players to work with a good manager/hc otherwise it's a complete waste of money. And if you end up with a bad egg in the basket it usually turns into a mess.
