It’s an interesting one, leg spinners can generally bat more than finger spinners?

Am i imagining this? Imran Tahir aside
Rashid Khan is handy too, Adil got FC centuries. Then Zampa let's the side down.Seems to be a case - Warne was handy, Benaud, Afridi, Kumble far from a rabbit, even Ian Salisbury had a first class hundred to his name.
He was the most consistent run scoring #3 in the CC about 4 years on the bounce. If Trott hadn't been performing i reckon he'd have got a chance likeWe’re probably stretching now![]()
You've got your dates muddled up there mind.He was the most consistent run scoring #3 in the CC about 4 years on the bounce. If Trott hadn't been performing i reckon he'd have got a chance like

Borthwick debuted as a bowler in the same Ashes that Trott retired in. Then Ballance got the gig and
Was more 2014-2016 where he smashed it at 3 with bat and then Tom Westley got the nod instead when Ballance fell apart(after he replaced Trott).
2013 was the start of Scotty batting at 3 iirc.
Yeah he was defs unlucky but it was Tom Westley that ultimately got the nod over Scott in 2017, that was when his name was most heavily linked to England. I was angry at the time about it so I recall it well.He was unlucky to not be picked as a batsman. Although Bell came back at 3 in 2015, I still don't think we've filled that role adequately since Trott retired.

Between Trott retiring and Westley getting the gig we had Ballance, Bell and Root doing it.
Entirely possible im muddled but when borthwick did get his test nod it was as a spinner, however he was already a very successful #3 batsman at that point wasn't he?You've got your dates muddled up there mind.

Westley is a decent cricketer, I actually thought he would do better than he did. The move to Surrey completely ruined Bothwick's England chances when he should have been in his prime.

My point was if trott had never existed he may have got opportunities before that as a 3 not an 8/9.
Like i say, i may still be muddled haha
Bad move for him cricket wise really was
he should have got a go Scotty snd I’m convinced he’d have done OK, he has the character for it
No not at that stage, he was getting better but they still saw him as a spinner
The swan thing that he gets lots of stick for (even though he was literally injured snd couldnt play) was partly as he rated him so much as a bowler
Be could have been a proper all rounder I think, surrey absolutely killed his bowling
I think we had already started to kill it tbh, he could barely get a bowl at times in the championship in the early 2010's and gradually moved into the number 3 spot. I remember being hugely frustrated at how little they trusted him with the ball as he had so much potential and backers like Warne and Swann.
He was still our main spin bowler in white ball cricket though
He did still bowl fair bit in red ball I’m sure
It seems strange now that he just doesn’t bowl when he’s not that old snd was an actual spinner!
His spin bowling for Surrey was absolutely f***ing dogshit. That's all there is to it. Great lad, poor cricketer. Comparing him to Swann and Warne manBad move for him cricket wise really was

Done a “Mark Richardson” has Tall PaulThere’s no way Yates and Walter are international cricketers like
And it’s too soon for McKinney

Originally a number 10 bat now opening
Rehan opened the batting last i sawRehan hasn't done much this season so far. So far really doesn't bode well for England from a spinner perspective.
I'd be sending selectors to look at Farhan every week. Carson might be a shout at Sussex.
Leach or Dawson would be nee good in Australia lets be honest so got to look at someone different.
