Universal Studios UK

Don't get too excited - this hasn't been through the British planning permission system yet.

Land was purchased over 4 years ago and bedford council has been heavily involved in the planning process both before purchase and during those 4 years, doubt they’ll be any major objections

Good for the country but the weather and temperatures in Britain will always go against it. Main reason I enjoy universal studios was atleast waiting around was nice in the sun and warm
Give it time, global warming will soon make it great destination

It will be funny if an entire theme park is built in Beds before Luton build their new stadium

I thought it was fantastic news but my enthusiasm waned a bit when I realised the plan wasn't to demolish Luton and replace it with the theme park.

So while there are currently no direct trains running from the north east on that route, there could be potentially.

There is a new railway station next to the site at Wixams being planned as part of the East West Rail project and apparently part of the Universal plan is to pay to upgrade this to bigger than it would be. The station would also be on the Midland Mainline as well as Thameslink so potential for a lot of connections.

Probably not from Consett though.

Actually got my rail schemes mixed up. The Wixams station is different to the new one planned for EWR

Think there's an element of visiting Paris as well. Never fancied it myself, though have been to florida plenty of times
Been to euro Disney 4 times.
Never been to Paris
Technically it's only a few hundred meters away.
Technically it's only a few meters away.

Depending on how you think "few" encompasses.

Watford to Northampton is a canny way.
I have been to Euro Disney in the winter and it was miserable like, totally agree with the lad who said it makes a big difference. That said I hope this comes off and does well.
It can be really cold.
But it's also lovely. We've done 2 Xmas Disney they're when it's been below 0c the whole time.
Loved it tbh.
If it was windy and wet might have been much worse though.

There's more than one Watford. 😂

I've never bothered visiting Paris when visiting Disneyland Paris. We did visit Disney for the day while visiting Paris though.

We went at Easter two years running. About 22 degrees one year, snowing the next. 😂

My station will be the first stop between The Wixams and London (or the last if I’m heading the other way). I’ll not be happy if all these theme park goers stop me getting a seat.

I’m hoping there’ll be a theme park special in the same way Luton Airport parkway has an express.

Is that the thing near Watford? Is it any good as I'm taking the kids in the summer?
If you like Harry Potter, yes, it’s good. Almost too good. They’ve got so much actual stuff from the films you get a bit blase about it.

I’m not a massive fan as it happens, it’s the daughter and missus who are - but I was still impressed.
