Universal Studios UK

Does anyone know why Bedford was chosen for the site? This is creating 8000 local Jobs after completion and better transport links for the area which is less than an hour away from London.

It's between London and Birmingham, close to A1 and M1, decent rail links (and improving once EWR is finally built) which apparently puts half of the UK population within 2 hours.

Straddles the Oxford-MK- Cambridge arc where lots of housing and investment going in.

Close to several airports

Lots of local support

The site itself is flat and relatively easy to build on.

Much better located than Alton Towers which is miles from anywhere.

You dont realise how bad north east transport links are when you see how well connected other parts of the country are.

Are they
Are would say east coast main line is pretty good
Sheffield and Manchester have twreible transport links
I just assumed these places would be well connected. If what you say is true and they do have terrible transport links then with the huge amount of investment these huge catchment areas have I imagine will temporarily more than likely make up for it.

I hate this way that massive corporations get tax payers money to expand and make more profit

The taxpayers money is going on upgrading road and rail links which will benefit the whole area not just the theme park.

This is the type of government spending which I like to see as it encourages the kind of growth we have been lacking in the past 15-20 years. $1.3bn is nothing in the context of the economic activity it will support.

To be honest if you are an hour outside of London you have a massive advantage already
Its people in tower hamlets complaining about high unemployment

Seems it doesn’t have studios in the name. Digital Dan is thinking the area with its own city walk and that gonna be called resort and the first park will be named studios.
