Ben Stokes “Durham > England”

I had a feeling he would be under strong consideration for the 50 over job, particularly with McCullum taking over. I would personally be surprised if he doesn't get it now, given the public statement from Key and lack of options. I would imagine it is his job to turn down.

However, I don't think his body is up to playing tests and 50 overs so it would be short sighted decision with negative repercussions.

Can't be an all rounder in test cricket and ODI captain, too injury prone now.

Can be Captain in both but that would spell the end of his bowling.

I would drop him to 7 in the test side, and either let him open or 8 in the 1 day side to ease the strain batting wise ie, he can just give it a whack

Only getting older and falling apart more regularly. Pointless giving him the captaincy imo unless he was giving test cricket up

Safe to say they've made a fair few of them under Key.

Am I the only one who would appoint him ODI captain?

No brainer for me

People want more attention on ODIs and to take it seriously, but then kick off when this is suggested

One thing that has been obvious the last few tournaments is how key captaincy, leadership is, dealing with the pressure, being tactically spot on

Buttler was a terrible captain, should have gone years ago

Give it to stokes like, if he gets injured, he gets injured, that’s sport,

The ashes and India should be priority his body isn't up it

It’s not. He’s a brilliant captain. Pat Cummins basically does it that way and they won the World Cup
I haven't said he's a bad captain but it shouldn't be picking and chosing when you are going to do it, not a fan of people retiring then un retiring when they decide they like the coach aswell, listen if his body holds up and he can play most fair enough I just don't think it will, would you not prioritise test cricket.

That’s the modern game

He’s done everything for English cricket

He could have made a fortune in the IPL
