Ben Stokes “Durham > England”

Why would he do that though? I watch the one day cup (except when we play “home” games in Northumberland). I enjoy it as a thing. But it’s a reserve team tournament in another format. It’s about as relevant to test cricket as a game of tennis would be.

Fitness and match practice.

I think Stokes is someone who ultimately loves cricket and loves Durham, when the NZ series finishes he’ll have to stay fit, I suspect he’s decided he’s better off doing that by playing for Durham than he would be doing it in a gym on his own.

Might we see him for the Lancashire game starting 24 April?

We have three away games in a row after that.
The club have been fairly clear that it will be Worcs then Kent away. May 8th and 15th respectively. He was at the second XI game in midweek and looked physically fit to me doing plenty of bowling practice but it is his facial injury they are concerned about. It could all be a ploy though to avoid a bit of a circus if he sneaks back in for a game v Lancs or Middlesex with fewer press there.

Perhaps he’s keen to miss having to face Jimmy Anderson :o
