Poveda

How many full first team games has he had
How can you possibly judge him on his game time so far.
At least give him a chance,if he fails then fair enough, but I don't think he's played enough to make that judgement just yet.
The model is in decline if we are dishing out 4 year contracts to players in decline,I'll reserve judgement untill he's had 3 or 4 full games for the first team.

This is what I base my view of Poveda on:

He never got anywhere near a senior game at Man City and in his senior career he's played at Leeds, Blackburn, Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday...... 71 games in four seasons and 4 goals, his last goal was in 2023.

So, over the last four seasons he's played 18 games a season and scored one goal a season. He did fuck all at Leeds in 25 games, and he's hardly played for the creme de la creme at his previous three clubs.

All I see of Poveda is an injury prone player whose football career seemed to peak by the age of 20/21. I'd love him to do well for us, but I see nothing to suggest he will.

Ok I respect your view,so given that information why do you think they gave him that contract!
If they were just throwing money at it in the hope he would just hit form and come good, then we are surely doomed,as that type of business will ruin a club in very little time.
Also there's examples of players not doing great, then they get a move and come good,it's a team game, not just about the individual.
I just think give him at least a few games before we write him off, that's all.
If Enzo has 2 bad games I'm sure the knifes will come out, give him all the support we can, if we get on his back,it will just make it more difficult for him. If I'm wrong then so be it,but at least we can say we gave him the best possible support.

Weird cameo on Saturday, not an easy game to come into to be fair to him. Need to see more before I can judge but his lack of football pretty much throughout his career is a worry, we need some competition for Roberts though.

I think it's been an inexpensive gamble that he can stay fit enough to be a decent squad player / option off the bench. Not worked out so far but fingers crossed

Wasn’t half as bad as made out Saturday he was just a good scapegoat along with samed
But rusty maybe but he at least tried to make something happen as opposed to Roberts, abysmal again, went hiding all game probably because it was physical and he didn’t want to know
Poveda nice easy target it would seem
Agree with all of that. Give him a run of a few games, then judge him. We don't get much from Roberts.

I've already said I'd like him to do well, I just don't see it happening. I reckon he'll string 4- 6 appearances then be injured, hope I'm wrong.
He's had four years of achieving very little and being injured.
No idea why he got a 3+1 year contract. The board obviously/hopefully see something beyond what he's actually done for four years.
Yeah, there'll be those who'll blame Enzo if he has a couple of bad games. This board can be like that.
We had people slaughtering O'Nien as shite and crap on Saturday while others ( me included ) had him as our best player on the day.

End of the day, it's just about opinions.

Fair enough mate. Your flowers are in the post 😊

If we want an alternative to Roberts, I'd much rather we started Mayenda. He's fast strong and a goal threat. We need more than one player we can score regularly.
This. Poveda is too similar to Roberts imo. Skillful inverted winger on the right.

If it doesn’t work with Roberts, it’s likely to work with Poveda (and vice versa).

Hes got the fastest feet movement ive seen in a safc shirt..sadly like Roberts hes looking a tad light weight but it takes two to stop him and that can have advantages for others ,need to get him up to speed though and i dont think we have the time or the inclination for him to be anything other than a sub!Personally im more enthused about alexic i think he is going to be a good player !

Aleksic looks a serious talent, can tell he’s been bought in to replace Jobe/Rigg when/if they go.

No he doesn't, he needs to earn a run of games.
How does he earn games if he doesn't play,
Sticking someone one for twenty mins, and expecting him to change the whole dynamic around,is asking a lot.hes clearly earned a spot in training for Reggie to bring him on.
He's being compared to Roberts, who has had a ton of game time, give him a run then judge him on his displays,if he doesn't cut it then you have your answer,if he does were quids in,keep the faith👍

Yes, I think you have a point.

Poveda seems a strange signing for me.

He was presumably brought in as an alternative to Roberts although for me he’s just like a poor man’s version.

He doesn’t seem to have any real pace, slows the game down and on the albeit brief cameo’s we’ve seen to date seems pretty poor at decision making even when he stays on his feet.

The club presumably saw some real potential in him given the length of contract he was offered but I’ve seen nothing (yet) to share their optimism.
