Alan Brazil talksport

Worst thing being people who actually have daughters coming out with stuff like this. Shameful.

"Hey darling. Don't be silly and dream that one day girls might have the same sort of chances as men in football. Men are more important."
Another daft point badly made. Of course they’ve got the same chances as men in football, they’ve still got the same route to the top of their game. It just so happens their game isn’t as big as the men’s game. It’s not a criticism, an insult, it’s simply fact.
Celebrating that fact.

Absolutely loving that ruddy faced heart attack candidate putting a women in her place
Wasn’t celebrating the fact at all. Poor interpretation.

I player for the womens game. Normal channels for Liverpool game. That makes a difference for a start
?

I wasn't talking about the TV audience.

I was talking about people logged into the BBC website. By that metric there should have been more logged on for the women's game.

Comparatively very few football fans are interested compared to men. It's not news.

Still makes no sense why people would be logged into the bbc website for the Liverpool game.

oh mate come on

"Can I earn the same money as Cristiano Ronaldo one day Dad?"

They don't have the same chances. That isn't even open for debate.

Are you on the wind up?

It’s essential that you teach your kids reality and not fairy stories.
You’d explain that the market decides what people are paid, the general rule is supply and demand, otherwise the economy breaks down.
Think you thought process is dangerous for future society if every thing should be equal regardless of merit.
What’s the point in striving to be the best? Or think of ways to boost turnover/ profit if that person doesn’t benefit.

You have backtracked here. You said the take up isn't higher because they plug it to death. Now you are saying the take up isn't higher because the product is woeful
If you’ve read it that way you’ve read it that way. My point hasn’t changed (my original post was that few people watch it because it is rubbish) and I don’t think you are disagreeing…

As much as I despise Alan Brazil / Talksport in general, he is correct.

Even most women and girls who watch the mens game don't give a toss about the womens game.
Let's say that's true. Why say it? Popularity and interest levels weren't part of the discussion.

They were discussing the rebuild and projects. Brazil spoke of the mens mission 21. She then added the womens project. At no point did she even look to debate the priority. It was him who brought that up and even she agreed that the mens team is priority and that the mission 21 project (again, clue is in the name) is about the men.

He simply didn't like her even mentioning the womens project so trampled all over it (stating no ones gives a toss) instead of simply acknowledging that's also another project going on at the club.

That's fine. So when your daughter is talking about playing football, as a father, would you continually remind her that it will never be as good/big/popular as the mens sport? Or would you simply discuss women's football and encourage her to take it up if she wants to?

And that's fine. If it doesn't generate the same level of interest then they can't expect the same coin. Still seems bizarre that people think women need reminding their game won't ever be as big/good/lucrative though.
