Alan Brazil talksport

He's factually correct when he says Mission 21 is about the men - and men only. How could it not be, it refers to how many trophies they have won.

She said the women winning a trophy should be a primary target. He said that wasn't the priority and that people weren't bothered about the women in the context of these projects. He's right.

Even Ratcliffe said that they aren't a priority - it's an opportunity - that's a direct quote from the Man U programme.
He is. She didn't dispute that. She referred to a different project that both the mens aims and women's aims sit under.

I didn't hear her say the women winning a trophy should be a priority. Is that in the clip?

Watch it again. She says "I've already said that" when he says the mens team is the priority.

Just watched it again (ffs). She doesn't say the women winning something should be/is a priority in any of it.

She also agrees and says "I've already said that" when he states the mens team is the priority and that mission 21 is about the mens team (clue is in the name)

She mentions project 150 and how mission 1 (the womens team) sits underneath it.

He just says no one gives a toss.

No she doesn’t, she brings up something which is nothing more than an afterthought, Brazil tries to cut through the nonsense and move the convo back onto something that actually matters.

The womens game is pointless in comparison to the mens, it’s very noble of you fighting the good fight on behalf of the women mind.

Top woke points for mowsy 👏👏
It’s more the fact that he demeans her when he didn’t need to. He could have just let it pass or even gently patronised her by saying “yes the women are important too” and moved on.

Think he's gone the journey for his offensive references to the lass in question. Well that post has gone.

Agree…I heard it. It was a typical miscommunication issue…..a bit of a non story really.

What Brazil said was factually correct….although he could and should have worded it a bit more respectfully…but he’s a radio presenter and is paid to give an opinion.
Aherne being faced with this negativity understandably changed the argument in support of the women’s game and what she said was also arguably correct.
However Brazil kept retreating his argument was fact…..which is was. Aherne kept repeating a different argument supporting women’s football and she was also correct.

Politicians do this all the time…..when faced with an extreme factual negativity….they’ll refuse to accept it and instead try to change the argument quoting an extreme positive, so they end up not addressing each others points.

Old Gaby Agbonlohore had to be piece maker saying he agreed that both could be right as they were arguing about a different point.

Did he say women shouldn’t be encouraged to play??

He ‘laboured’ the point as that gobshite shebane wouldn’t accept in the grand scheme of things the woman’s team are an irrelevance.

If she’d just said yeah obviously mens team the priority but if the women can do well that’ll be a bonus the convo would’ve stopped dead!

So you concede the product is vastly inferior then?
Is a banana inferior to an orange?
Seriously you’d have to be more than a little bit stupid to make the comparison.

The real issue here as exposed by Alan Brazil (Keys and Gray etc) is still this archaic perception that men are superior to women. That’s the crux of it.

It doesn’t matter how thinly veiled (or not) their comments are, that it what they are getting at.

Women aren’t important and men, ‘proper men’ (like them and you) should not be giving it the time of day.

That’s what he thinks, that’s what many on here think too.it must feel nice to be like Alan Brazil. Fortunately I’ll never know.

There is of course the real world which is totally different. I suppose it’s like opinions on the running of SAFC - message board clap trap vrs general society…thickos vrs reasonable, and on the whole, more intelligent folk living in 2025 and embracing it.

It was part of the wider project set up and then sub parts like you mentioned. The comment was still he thought most Man U fans wouldn't care less either way if the lasses side was included or not.

Come on he didn't if you watch the clip. She's then had a head loss 20mins later and made it personal.

As much as I despise Alan Brazil / Talksport in general, he is correct.

Even most women and girls who watch the mens game don't give a toss about the womens game.

Yep, its his tone and the way he just dismisses her is the worst thing about it. It's clearly not just about discussing the subject. He could have easily just said "yeah womens football is another important part to go alongside the mens in the background"

That’s a very bold statement and made with such assurance. It’s not a report I’ve seen. Where did you get the data from? Or have you just made that up?

Fantastic post and put it way better than me

It wasn’t unsolicited, you asked whether it was down to lack of exposure, and I corrected you. There’s already far more exposure to it than the championship, let alone non-league and U21s and the take-up is poor. Ever noticed when you click through on a sky or BBC sports website the order of play goes EPL, WSL, Championship…

I have no disdain for anyone who chooses to watch it - but the reason the take-up isn’t higher is because they plug it as much as they can and the standard is woeful.

Also just FYI, the goalkeepers can all reach the bar in U21s and non-league…

Yeah, the moral police are really out in full force and looking for a witch hunt. If only there were fewer misogynists out there, the viewing figures between the two forms of the game would be exactly the same!

I don’t disagree with his view, but he was pretty belligerent in his delivery, and he didn’t need to be so dismissive towards a female journalist and colleague in such a public forum. She was only doing her job (and doing it well) and must have found it pretty humiliating to be interrupted like that.
No I didn’t.

Still going back again to the context of the clip, he simply said most Man U fans wouldn't care about that side of the club. Do you think a majority of Man U fans do?

Wish they would stop sharing the results on soccer Saturday. Don't know whether I'm coming or going with me coupon.
Separate channels 🙏
