That's not what I said though is it.

There's a distinction between not being bothered about watching it (which I said), and disliking it (which implies some sort of hatred/prejudice against it) which is not what I said.

That is manipulation.
This thread is bonkers.

I don't like ballroom dancing, I don't watch it. Others do. I don't hate it, it's an irrelevance to me.

But apparently I should be shouting from the rooftops supporting women's football even though it's an irrelevance to me 😂

Cuckoo.

Probably would help if you read the discussion

"Almost every female I know has an interest in the mens game"

Inference almost every female I know has no interest in female football

Irrelevant if we're projecting the people we know's like and dislikes onto the nation

Much like ballroom dancing

No, the correct analogy is you don't like ballroom dancing, therefore no-one does.

Most people have no interest in it, that's true.

As I said earlier, 94K were logged on the BBC website for the men's league cup game last night. 6K for the women's game. 15x more interest in the men's game.

It's a minority sport.

Your wife, family and mates wives are unlikely to be from a wide range of ages, political views etc

But the anti woke have taken over this forum seemingly. The busiest threads are all aimed at bashing certain groups. And it rankles therefore it's an easy assumption to assume many posters fit in this category. You likely don't
And what’s wrong with the Anti Woke the knars

Why is it a minority sport Keith?

Might that be because of years and years of subjugation by men? Women actually banned from playing altogether. No funding for years. To grow something and make it bigger you often need to disrupt the norm.

Righto, I'll wind my neck in bringing my perfectly valid personal experiences into the discussion in this community forum then.

Wasn’t the Liverpool match on itv?

Plus LIVERPOOL…

Nobody is disputing which is the bigger sport, but why should that mean we ignore the women’s game?

17.5 m watched the euro final btw

He made a good point the other day in that the PL from 25 years ago, the teams in it would absolutely piss all over the teams in the current PL. Which makes you wonder why the quality is so much worse.

When you have players like Havertz going for 65m and being on 100k a week, it shows how shit it is.

This really isn’t a hard concept to understand. They plug it to death, but the take-up is poor, and the main reason is the standard is absolutely woeful. Most people are bombarded by sport 24/7 so they are selective in what they watch, and it doesn’t feature high up their agenda because the product is poor. There are some misogynists who will never accept it but they are in the minority.

Pretty sure most of the above is pretty factual, struggling to see why it’s so controversial.
You have backtracked here. You said the take up isn't higher because they plug it to death. Now you are saying the take up isn't higher because the product is woeful

There are lots of folk who have turned their backs on ‘elite’ men’s football, either through being priced out or disillusioned by the modern game.

Some of those are watching lower league or non league, others grass roots and some the women’s game. It’s a conversation I’ve had at places like South Shields, York City and the example above of the Man U supporter at Leigh.

I’ve clarified the honesty thing. Play acting, diving, trying the con the ref to get an opponent booked or sent off.

Very much a men’s football problem and especially higher up the pyramid. There’s also zero ‘edge’, racism, homophobia in comparison.
I agree loads now don't attend top flight matches and in the EFL in general. However the attendances across the top two leagues in particular fly in the face of that argument.

Possibly the win at all costs mentality is because there's so much at stake financially in the men's game these days? How would the womens game react if they pushed the ticket prices up to equivalent of those down at the SOL and other grounds, do you think attendances would be impacted?

But again this thread going off on a tangent is miles away from the original comment about a project which included all football operations at Man U, which in his opinion he didn't think a lot of their fans would be bothered about. Is it that controversial to take that viewpoint?

Teams in the bottom half of 2000 PL would finish top 4 in this current league mind

If that’s the case then what’s the current standard like in the Championship….would it be league 2 level or maybe national league standard?

There’s now such a massive difference in standard between the PL and Championship, it’s almost like they play a different sport.
Leeds are top of the league but that side stands no chance if they go up….however you would expect Leeds to make some big signings.
