Alan Brazil talksport

Wish they would stop sharing the results on soccer Saturday. Don't know whether I'm coming or going with me coupon.
Separate channels 🙏
Radio is the worst for it. BBC 5 especially.

Give 0 context as to whether its men or women, until a few minutes later they drop something which makes it apparent.

Still going back again to the context of the clip, he simply said most Man U fans wouldn't care about that side of the club. Do you think a majority of Man U fans do?
I’ve got absolutely no idea because I’ve never asked one. Have you? Has Brazil?

If it’s worth anything at all I do have the experience of speaking to an older bloke at a Man vrs Leicester WSL game last season at the Leigh stadium. I took my girls as a treat as they play and, at the time supported Man U (now Sunderland women)

He was a former men’s MUFC season ticket holder who got priced out and sick of the Premier League and what it’s come to stand for. He now goes to watch the women because it’s affordable, accessible and more of a reminder of what men’s football used to be - honest.

Its an easy indication and one I know you'll push back against, but attendances at the lasses games are around 5500, and the men's team 73000. That's also with much cheaper ticket prices.
As a statement I don't think what he said was that controversial and the offence is being taken for a wider social issue.

Right oh but congratulations on your research. Yet more made up crap from someone in a bubble who thinks their bubble represents the entire UK
Congratulations on your default assumption I'm some sort of remain voting, racist, woman hating simpleton.

I detest those sorts of people. Just check my posting history on here for a start.

The point I was making is that, in my experience, most people I know (from a wide range of political views, ages etc) simply prefer the entertainment aspect of mens football more. I've not made the point whilst trying to tarnish the womens game, nor bringing political views into it whatsoever.

You've really bolted the starting blocks here in a spectacularly terrible way.

Your wife, family and mates wives are unlikely to be from a wide range of ages, political views etc

But the anti woke have taken over this forum seemingly. The busiest threads are all aimed at bashing certain groups. And it rankles therefore it's an easy assumption to assume many posters fit in this category. You likely don't

Nothing gets the left frothing more than an attack on a minority.

Whether you agree or not it is heavily wheeled out.

About half are labour voters, one green, rest tory or reform types. In addition, they range from 20s up to 60s. I'd pretty much say that constitutes a wide range in both aspects.

I myself am a labour party member and voter. Check my posts on the politics forum.

How can you say it is unlikely that they are from a wide range, without having a clue yourself.   .

Please do your research on fellow posters before tarnishing them.

You've taken a reasonable reply and dismissed it out of hand straight away, without knowing any background to the posters social circle?

Everyone woman he knows dislikes women's football. Therefore all women dislike women's football.

Outstanding manipulation of one's own personal experience to project onto a population

There are lots of folk who have turned their backs on ‘elite’ men’s football, either through being priced out or disillusioned by the modern game.

Some of those are watching lower league or non league, others grass roots and some the women’s game. It’s a conversation I’ve had at places like South Shields, York City and the example above of the Man U supporter at Leigh.

I’ve clarified the honesty thing. Play acting, diving, trying the con the ref to get an opponent booked or sent off.

Very much a men’s football problem and especially higher up the pyramid. There’s also zero ‘edge’, racism, homophobia in comparison.

There was a study done in Munich looking at men's and women's matches. The study concluded that staying down after being tackled, playacting and protesting to referees is much more evident in the men's game. The study timed these sorts of incidents in both games. It also showed that in the men's game much of the staying down and so on is tactical. i.e more time rolling around when winning the match, and that tactical play acting doesn't happen in the women's game.

I would say, aye, the women's game is more honest, and whenever I've watched it it's more of a free flowing game of football.

Why the difference? Open to debate. Maybe it's because of the money involved in the men's game which has led to a win at all costs mentality, or maybe today's male footballers are a bunch of pampered fannies. Would be interesting to see the women's game evolve into a money making machine like the men's game and then see how the women players act on the pitch.
Even most women and girls who watch the mens game don't give a toss about the womens game.

There's a lot of history with the men's game, the main one being that the football club (men's) has been seen as the flagship for the community since the inception of football. That's stiff competition for the promotion of the women's game.

Could a women's football club ever be seen as the flagship for the wider community? Not any time soon.

That's not what I said though is it.

There's a distinction between not being bothered about watching it (which I said), and disliking it (which implies some sort of hatred/prejudice against it) which is not what I said.

That is manipulation.
