It's on itv, isn't it?Currently there are 94K on the Beeb website viewing the league cup.
There are 6K viewings the female version.
So basically 15x more interest in the men's game this evening.
Image and contractual reasons. Are PL clubs not now forced to have ladies teams? In this day and age, imagine the uproar and damage to the ‘brand’ if you weren’t seen as diverse by not having a ladies team. Also many will simply want ladies teams as there’s growing interest in ladies wanting to play. Why do they even bother with a women's football team then? If market forces determine things
Of course they would be proud, why wouldn't they be. But that wasn't the point being made on the radio show this morningIndeed. If any of the miserable gits on here had a daughter who played for SAFC Women they would be as proud as anything.
He'll end up on gbeebies. No doubt about itBet he was pro Brexit

Once again though, this simply doesn’t mean that the Manchester United fanbase are interested in the ladies team - which is what Alan Brazil is stating.
This game just erupted! He'll end up on gbeebies. No doubt about it
So it isn't market forces then
It’s market forces which dictate how many of Manchester United’s fanbase are interested in the womens team. Which is what the debate is about. He'll end up on gbeebies. No doubt about it
So it isn't market forces then
How do you define a minority sport?I absolutely would.
Whilst also being aware that it’s still a minority sport.
How you define very high?? As I’ve said if you put South Shields up against the best womens side in football shields would slaughter them. How do you define a minority sport?
There are literally 10s of thousands of girls playing FA games every Saturday, we have a professional women’s league and England games are regularly selling out and getting 60,000 plus crowds. The recent World Cup was watched by billions around the world.
It’s made incredible progress in the last 10-15 years. Is it different from men’s football? Yes? So what? WSL standard is really high, very enjoyable, no diving or cheating to get opponents sent off. It’s played in a far better spirit.
I’ll be honest, the women’s game didn’t used to appeal to me until my kids started playing and now I’m a total convert. And there will be hundreds of thousands of others just like me.
So like it or not, its profile is only going to rise. Sorry if they offends ‘Big Al’ or anybody else who is stuck in the 1980s.
I have never and would never compare men’s and women’s football in that way. It’s utterly ridiculous. You’ve got to be pretty thick to make that comparison to be fair. How you define very high?? As I’ve said if you put South Shields up against the best womens side in football shields would slaughter them.
The odd game will attract an audience but in the main it’s watched by barely anyone.
You’ve totally missed the point he was making though. He’s not offended by it, he was simply saying that the Manchester United fanbase aren’t bothered about the womens team in the grand scheme of a plan by the new minority owners to get the club back to competing at the top level. How do you define a minority sport?

I amSpeak for yourself
He is completely dismissive of women’s football and always has been. Just shrugs it off as thought it doesn’t matter (which to him it clearly doesn’t).You’ve totally missed the point he was making though. He’s not offended by it, he was simply saying that the Manchester United fanbase aren’t bothered about the womens team in the grand scheme of a plan by the new minority owners to get the club back to competing at the top level.
This could well have been said by women’s football’s biggest advocate, it wouldn’t mean they’re offended by it, dislike it or are against it. It would merely have been them stating fact.
Which is being lost in all of this. The attendances would suggest that a significant number of Man U's fanbase aren't interested. It’s market forces which dictate how many of Manchester United’s fanbase are interested in the womens team. Which is what the debate is about.
That is a massive overreaction to the conversation this morning, and not the point that was being made.He is completely dismissive of women’s football and always has been. Just shrugs it off as thought it doesn’t matter (which to him it clearly doesn’t).
But it’s no surprise. He also believes that people who take their own lives are selfish and should just pull themselves together.
He needs taking off air.
What's the average attendance in the WSL at the moment out of interest? That could give a guide to the popularity amongst a teams fanbase? How do you define a minority sport?

That shebang is a pain in the arse. What a great listen this morning.
The intolerable shebane waffling on about the Man Utd ‘project’ trying to shoe horn the womens team into it.
Brazil ‘nobody gives a stuff about the womens team’
Somebody had to say it![]()
The large majority of the fan base probs aren't fussed about it .You’ve totally missed the point he was making though. He’s not offended by it, he was simply saying that the Manchester United fanbase aren’t bothered about the womens team in the grand scheme of a plan by the new minority owners to get the club back to competing at the top level.

I don’t listen to Talksport, so I don’t know his stance on womens football. I’m merely talking about the instance in hand, which he’s totally correct about. He is completely dismissive of women’s football and always has been. Just shrugs it off as thought it doesn’t matter (which to him it clearly doesn’t).
But it’s no surprise. He also believes that people who take their own lives are selfish and should just pull themselves together.

She just hasn’t got the voice for radio and cackles on like an excited schoolgirl. If Shebahn Aherne gets Brazils gig a bet the listerner numbers gan through the roof.......NOT
It’s not about encouraging it, it’s not about women not being interested in the men’s game, it’s not about being able to live with it, it’s not about anyone criticising it. It’s about Alan Brazil stating a fact that, on the whole, Man Utd’s fanbase aren’t interested in the women’s team. You’re arguing totally the wrong point! The large majority of the fan base probs aren't fussed about it .
But there will be quite a few thousands who are- and perhaps many women & girls who may not have been that interested in the men's game
So I suggest that we encourage it as the more the merrier.
As for any football pundits that can't live with female footy , refs or pundits- I say ' get a life '
And for those saying its not as good / fast / athletic/ exciting as the mans game :- it's all relative
Men are generally stronger and faster than women ;- does this mean I should never have watched female competitive sports?
I'd have missed out on Shelly Pryce , Cathy Freeman , Florence Joyner , Olga Korbut , Serena Williams , Sydney McLaughlin , Femke Bol ..... And hundreds of others
That'd be a shame
