Maybe positives and negatives in a move, just like there is for the club. It's pretty clear that the club were prepared to let him go for the right deal. The right deal appears to be: if we can get a player now who we think will help us get out of this league this season then it's worth trading a player who we think has a lot of potential, otherwise forget it.

Personally, I'm amazed that the club didn't just take 12 million or whatever for a lad who has barely played. They must think a lot of him.
 
A lot of people really think they somehow know exactly what is going on based on a few tweets. The abuse thrown at both the player and the club over this has been ridiculous.

£13m is a lot to turn down for a lad who hasn't done much yet, but clearly has bags loads of potential. None of us know how close it got to actually coming off. It could be that the club never would have sold without the Adingra option, or maybe they wanted a huge sell-on option, either of which would mean they are playing the transfer game pretty well in my opinion.

At the same time, no one knows whats been going on with Tommy's contract, but too many have been insisting that he doesn't want to sign, or that the club hasn't offered a decent contract whereas there is plenty of room in between both of those positions.

Some fans really need to give their heads a shake.
 
What’s the problem here. Brighton were offering silly money which when he isn’t first choice is hard to turn down but the caveat was we have a replacement/someone that would strengthen us. Adringa would do that. Clubs/player couldn’t agree so deal off. We held the cards and didn’t fold.
 
Still think he will go. No reason for him not to be down there really as he’s injured anyway. Will depend on us finding a replacement or then offering so much we think it’s worth going without one.

If he stays, we have to hope the things we’ve heard about him being happy but willing to go if it comes off are true. We really don’t want a disgruntled player around the squad if he’s desperate to go and we block it.
 
that's alot of money to turn down if he's not going to sign new terms. doubt we'll see those figures again if he goes into the summer with a year left on his contract

Definitely, and I think I'd have said fairs fair if Adingra signed for us but if that's not a go'er I don't see how this benefits us on deadline day with little time to source a replacement.
Get Tommy signed on a 4 year contract and we will see a lot higher bids than that for him down the line.
