New Music Releases Thread

The Ex-Void album is great if indie rock is your thing (one of the seemingly multiple bands that formed out Joanna Gruesome). And, not remotely new, as it was originally released in 1969, "Motor-Cycle" by Lotti Golden is a work of psychedelic soul genius. The Blue Lake album is very good, gentle chilled out instrumentals that are kind of folk but not quite. Reminds me of Lemon Jelly without the novelty samples.

Ex-Void is great, love what they’ve done to lonely girls.

That new Kele album is canny as well.

Looking forward to Mogwai. Been impressed with new stuff so far, but I think they're one of those bands who find it impossible to make a bad album.

Just seen Manic Street Preachers are releasing a new album 7 February. Didn't even know they had gone back into the studio. Looking forward to this.

New album from Tunng is good. First album of theirs I've heard. Iggy Pop has a live album/blu-ray out today - Live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2023. Heard a couple of songs and it should be decent, quite a few Stooges songs were played with a very good band.

Mogwai and ROse City Band both well on form as expectyed. I quite like the Delivery album that came out last week, think a mix of Parquet Courts and Amyl & the Sniffers. C. Duncan's usual orchestrated indiepop is nice, Benjamin Booker impressive with his almost poppy indie rock, Al-Qasar's "if Goat were actually from North Africa" thing continues to impress (cracking Arabic cover of 'Personal Jesus').

My highlight thus far is the latest solo album from Chris Eckman, once of the Walkabouts. Lovely laidback vibe and just quality songs. It's Americana of sorts, I guess. Just get it listened to.

There are new releases this week from Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Crica Waves, Geologist & D.S. (Animal Collective member and mate), LS Dunes, Lily Hiatt, Manic Street Preachers, Maribou State, The Weeknd, Everyone Say Hi, Prison, Adrian Younge, Decius, Cymande and Eddie Chacon.

I've just arrived in Bangkok for work so won't get much new listened to until the weelend after this.

Think I read the Manics’ was delayed? Or I could have made that up.

Ps: DNASH have a new record out
