The Fishing Thread

Sounds like carp anglers !

The Reservoir I bailiff down here is sun light the sun set only.
One of the top Carp waters in the Country, mainly for Carp matches and for Anglers that want to catch. Not one of the sterile commercial pools but a huge Reservoir and 20lb plus carp regular. Matches in warmer months often won with over 400lb plus weights..
Not my scene and prefer the Pike and some big ones for sure.
A few years back a 40lb one came out and unfortunately died after being caught a few times after the original angler stuck it on social media.

Fisherman all over the County come to fish it.
Never had a problem with anyone. We get Poles, Romanians, Hungarians and all of them now educated to not remove the fish. Some top anglers amongst them and never leave litter and use unhooking cradles etc. Good to see.

Two lovely young lads with their Dad last week from the Peak District Pike fishing.
Both caught a decent Pike each over 2 days. Managed to take a picture for them.

So pleasing that I rarely see any litter. However on our other reservoir that I don’t bailiff and has night fishing the litter is awful and some of the Bivvy Carp anglers need to have some respect. Bins are in the carpark, winds me up.
Crossed a couple of rivers in Quebec today, ice fishermen were out in force.

There was a few lads fishing the First Gate on South Shields pier this morning.

It was bitter cold and they had not caught anything. Still a decent sea running and things will start to warm up a bit next week. We are going out next week and I will report back on what we catch.

Going to get out on one of the Northumberland beaches tonight or tomorrow I think. Either Cambois and fish low or Newbiggin and try over high. It’s quiet at the moment though considering the conditions
How is it up Alnwick way Tony. I was thinking of trying Foxton.

They sell tackle and live bait inside.

Just love that 🤣
Never seen a place that sells live bait. The reservoir I fish is dead bait only.

That was cold yesterday and blanked.😞
Recommend one of those sleeve like gloves that hangs over your neck and is charged by a phone charging battery pack. Kept my hands warm.
Always have suffered from cold hands, feet are fine.

Same as me! My mate has recommended some Montane Mitts. They have a factory in Ashington and I’m going up there to get a pair. I’ve tried his and they are very warm.

On my feet I wear Scarpa walking boots unless I’m going in the water. If I’m wading I wear Vass waders with two pairs of thick fleecy socks.

I’m still cold!

Superb that 🤣🤣

Look at the colour of the water - no wonder the pike have gone awol.
Chuff me thats coloured up for this time of year

Last weekends snow has coloured it.
It’s a huge reservoir and 3 feedpoints. The colour suits the Carp Anglers but not the Pike Anglers. Had a line bite and the alarm buzzed once but no movement on the drop back bite indicators.
Plenty of silver fish to keep a healthy pike population.
