You're the one who said she'd compared him to a monkey. She hasn't done that.
Mate it’s obviously what she’s done.

I’ve no idea why you’re trying to excuse or defend it by playing semantics.

The phrase is Most Valuable Player, why not just say that?

She’s tried to be funny, clever, and got it completely arse about tit.

Because she’s an idiot, basically.

The worst aspect though is the double standards and rank hypocrisy tbh.

She's obviously trying to be clever or verbose. Using the word primate as in human not the monkey kind imo.

In trying to lick Bumrah's backside, she's come a cropper. Quite funny really.
I think this is pretty much it to be honest. It's a really weird thing to say but I don't there's any malice behind it.

Ok. We'll agree to disagree. However, I'm not sure why you think a woman who is born to Indian parents would make a direct comparison between an Indian player and a monkey.

Secondly, she's anything but dense. She has a Masters in Neuroscience.

I probably wasn’t clear.

I don’t think she’s intentionally compared him to a monkey, in a literal sense.

I think she’s inadvertently made a racist slur, because she’s a bit of an idiot, as already explained.

Semantics or ‘scientific definitions of the word primate’ doesn’t excuse that, imo.

But, full disclosure, I don’t really like her, and besides it’s the double standards I’ve got more of an issue with, so I’m happy to agree to disagree.

Wonder if she's just got caught up between words and had a brainfart, it'll absolutely not be malicious. Primate can refer to any mammal tbf.

Have you ever heard the term ‘educated idiot’??
She'd just been to a presentation by Vaughan on "the art of commentary" .

I bet that was riveting. He’s hardly Bradman or Arlott…

It can, but more commonly it is used as a racist slur.

Her heritage and parentage don’t mean a single thing when you consider the Indian caste system is one of the most racist entities in modern civilisation.

Yes and I'm well aware of the caste system given I've played cricket with a lot of Indians in the past.

I maintain there was absolutely no malice in it. Obviously you think differently. Ultimately Guha is the only person who can confirm what her intention was and I doubt she's going to be posting on here any time soon.

I don’t think different actually, because I genuinely don’t know - but nor do you. I just find it hilarious, embarrassing and actually infuriating that she’s getting far more ‘leeway’ following this incident because she ticks two boxes.

If it was an Aussie bloke on comms who said it, like Brett Lee or David Warner they’d have been suspended immediately and would probably be facing the sack now.

MVP - Most Valuable Primate was a 2000 film about an ice-hockey playing chimpanzee. Obviously, the title is a play on the actual meaning of MVP.

She might have inadvertently been referring to that film but, whether she was or wasn't, it was not the most advisable thing to say when referring to a non-white sportsman.
