Tom Cannon bid in - now signed for Sheff U.

I don’t get this bid for Cannon. I’m not sure I believe it. For the wages he’d want you could pay the other two targets.

In that context its sounds great ....but wages is just one problem on this one ...

Like most players who get promoted many have clauses in their deal that see contractual rises built in on promotion

I don’t see us bidding if we couldn’t offer him the wages. Clubs know toughly a players demands these days before making an offer. They’ll speak to an agent and ask

I reckon this is all a smokescreen to flush out Mendy from Caen.
They hear we’ve put a bid in on the Monday, they sign a new striker on the Tuesday and have a very unhappy one training alone.

There’s no way Cannon will move to the Championship on a permanent if his reported wages are anywhere near correct. A loan maybe but this £5m ‘bid’, given they paid £7m for him last season is never going to be enough
Theres no one in prem gonna sign him so championship as good as he's likely to get. Its a good league for him to be 1st choice striker and make a name for himself

Nothing about the bid being rejected so maybe it’s advanced a bit. Isn’t even on the bench for Leicester tonight.

I don't think the model means we can't pay high wages. It's about getting a return on everyone they do buy and to not overpay anyone more than they are worth. They could make Nick Cannon the highest paid if they feel he's worth it and still get a return on him when they sell.
Tbf we’ve lost our two best players over the last two year because we don’t pay high wages.

Well documented we wouldn’t pay Stewart and Clarke what they wanted. Contract talks had been going on for about a year

Our wage bill is relatively tiny

I imagine he's been left out as he's surplus to requirements there, they have one offer in hand, and AT LEAST 2 other clubs eyeing him up(Sheffield United and Stoke). Pretty much nailed on to move, so why risk it?

I’m quite confident about our position with Cannon. I don’t think any of the other clubs linked will pay 5m+

They were f***ing with loans and loan to buys. We’ve went straight in with 5m

All the noises from those other clubs linked saying they would only be interested with a loan to buy. Depends what Leicester want. If we’ve offered a fee they clearly want him sold but looking at Leicester fans opinions they don’t want him to be sold.

Leicester have been reported to prefer a sale
