Jack Clarke

Nowt to donwith business acumen. It's because the club were desperate to sell because KLD and sartori wouldn't pay a transfer fee for a striker etc.
True but if they had of used their heads a bit & had bigger balls, they could of effectively got a striker in for nowt.

Really, it's a valid option and if Clarke himself isn't asking for a move, the it's possibly the best one. If he's happy staying and nobody offers 30m or whatever we feel is undeniable, just keep him. Sign strikers - challenge for promotion. As many have said, he could probably garner close to 15m even in the last year of his contract.
Yeah I agree with this. We’ve started the season well and have a bit of momentum going, selling Clarke now would completely destroy that, and as above, we still make a profit on him if we sell him next summer

Good luck to the lad - probably double his wage.
Probably doubled it?? I’d hope he has at least doubled it. Because if he hasn’t, that makes it even worse!
Dan Neil will be sold to fund next seasons transfers no doubt and i serioualy think it.. Hasn't signed a renewal and only a year left come next summer.

It's absolutely depressing
Hopefully this sale funds a new contract for Neil? Just a thought

Disappointing news to wake up to, but that’s football. Just feel like it’s another opportunity missed by the hierarchy to try and push on, especially securing Rigg, Jobe etc. Why they decided to do it on eve of the game on Burnley, I’ll never know because they’ve just killed any sort of feel good factor from last week. This board never learns its lesson.

Good luck to Jack, he’s stayed far longer than most expected, life goes on and hopefully the football factory that is Sunderland can produce another exciting left winger.

Because let’s be honest the feel good factor would evaporate anyway if Clarke wasn’t in the squad which he wouldn’t be

Taking all emotion out of it, the lad is probably getting 3 to 4 times more in wages if he goes. Good luck to him, through clenched teeth (if it happens). We are bigger and better than Ipswich, and the chances are he'll be back at our level next season, but he'll have that chance to impress other teams. Personally, I'm unsure how he'll go in the premier league after his performance against the mags in the cup.

People are expecting a lot to be done with this transfer fee when we are going to be receiving less than £12m.

New contract for Neil, improve the squad, replace Clarke etc. Not going to happen.

You get them out asap. It doesn't matter who it is or how much they're worth, no player is bigger than the club, if he's kept and if he's highly influential in the dressing room he then has the ability to cause negativity and disrupt the harmony in the group.

Holding someone ransom very often backfires in modern day football. That's why Pep shipped out the likes of Cole Palmer and Julian Alvarez the moment they said they don't want to be around anymore.
You don't give them away man

Reading between the lines, it was verbally agreed, then Harte has advised Clarke not to sign it until the end of the window. I suspect it’s been used as a tool to get clubs to firm up interest in Clarke unfortunately. Ipswich have come in and with Clarke not signing the deal the club thought was agreed, we have accepted.
It wouldn't be the first time they've put a contract on the table a few days before someone goes. They supposedly done it to Alex Neil and Pritchard. Maybe I'm being a little naive, but part of me still wonders if the £15 million was written into the contract. A clause saying if an official bid comes in for that much then he's allowed to speak to the club.

From what Romano has said, it seems like Clarke really wanted to leave for the PL. Ipswich knew this and it leaves SAFC in a tough position.

This one hurts like Clarke has been tremendous for us soon as we were after isidor the writing was on the wall before someone says he’s a striker player just as much of he’s career on the left intact he’s scored more goals from the left

Back to Clarke the lad was fantastic for us and I’ve got a feeling a lot of this is down to Harte instigating a move obviously we can’t compete with prem wages and the attractions of the premier league but this to me is a terrible move for him but i which him all the best

The fee is be surprised if it’s only 15 million then add ons in todays market one thing speakman and kld are is quite clever with fees seen that with Stewart and lihadji

But we go again wish Clarke all the best and welcome isidor to the club he’s got some big boots to fill
You should learn how to use commas.

Fee does seem low, but it is what it is, now its all about how the club reinvest it. It can be possible we sell Clarke and come out of the window stronger, but the club need to be very shrewd now and show what theyre made of, Jurys still out, big end of the window needed now.

There's a reason the club kept getting lowball offers like 11m etc. Because clubs knew it wouldn't take that much to get an accepted offer.

A few people will probably stop talking about us always getting good money under this regime now I reckon.

Youre making big assumptions from a tweet basically stated the deal terms

I wonder if there was a release clause in his deal with us
