Jack Clarke

Why does signing a striker depend on selling Clarke though? We haven't spent a penny on transfer fees in this window and have needed a striker for 18-24 months. Bringing in a striker should be the bare minimum, especially after selling Stewart last August and the infamous Lihadji money that we were told would enable us to strengthen.

We spent more than half of what we'll make from Clarke on Hjelde, Rusyn and Aouchiche. IfI was confident we'd reinvest the money wisely I'd be ok with it but our recruitment since January 2023 has been atrocious. Diabolical.

Never said it did.

Clarke's the client, he could have told him to cut it out..he didn't do that, it's all done with the clients full knowledge
Jack is 23 years old. Young footballers, rightly or wrongly, rely on their agents for advice and guidance.

I’m sure the lad will be happy with the pay rise and jump to the big league, though. He’s done very well to turn his career round and taking a chance on us in L1 (not sure whether he had any better offers) has been beneficial to him and us.

Gutted to see him go. Gutted we couldn’t get another season from him. Gutted about the price.

I wish the lad well.

We were only a one-trick pony due to having no other attacking threat. We’ve only added Alan Browne as it stands to that squad who won’t affect that

Agreed, but as I've previously posted, if we do sign one or two of the players we're interested in, potentially we can tweak our game and attempt to add a few strings to our bow.

Not defending our recent business by any means but just because we haven't paid a transfer fee yet doesn't mean we have spent no money - the free signings plus the several contract renewals will all have come from the same budget

They are one of the favourites but it’s not a certainty they will.
He could get sold on again to another PL club even if they do go down.

From a players perspective why would you stop at a club in the championship when you can move up a division and test yourself even if it’s just for a season whilst doubling or tripling your wages? Pretty much would do the same.
Test himself? I think we’ve seen already how he will fair in the premier league. He’s class in this league but world class defenders will have him on toast. Good luck to the lad but I think he’s been given poor advice.

It's definitely another Josh Maja situation where he let the agent do all the talking and the agent was only after the biggest payout for himself rather than the client

Great, so we are swapping the best player in the squad for 3 players I had never heard of before this window, all from foreign leagues.

Ah well, at least we have a tremendous track record or recruiting from abroad…

He’s doesn’t mention the three players signing tomorrow, not in the tweets I’ve seen?
