Jack Clarke

He knows the extra money he will get by moving to the premier league. If it didn’t interest him he would have signed a contract here by now. The club has known he was going hence him not featuring in any promotional work for new kits. He’s going, another club might fancy a slice at such a cheap price and him and his agent may hold out a day or two and see what transpires.

He was settled up here mate but the revised contract offers made to him were bollocks. Because he was already at the top end of our wage structure, our first offer was basically a slight improvement on his existing terms - which he rightly rejected.

Things have only changed recently and last week it finally looked like we had offered him someone in line with his market value. All too late though

what's he supposed to do though if there's no other offer on the table even though he had a blinding season? just keep playing for us on comparable pennies? and hope the owners change tact and show some ambition?

if we're both in the same league next season it's still win win for him both from a footballing perspective and financially. Ipswich will be in a great position to fight to go straight back up. and have already shown they're prepared to spend to achieve it

our ownership group will just not compete financially for promotion
But he’s now in a great position to negotiate a better deal. I don’t blame him, he’s young but people are definitely giving him poor advice and profiting from that.

Jack is 23 years old. Young footballers, rightly or wrongly, rely on their agents for advice and guidance.

I’m sure the lad will be happy with the pay rise and jump to the big league, though. He’s done very well to turn his career round and taking a chance on us in L1 (not sure whether he had any better offers) has been beneficial to him and us.

Gutted to see him go. Gutted we couldn’t get another season from him. Gutted about the price.

I wish the lad well.
I had bought house and got married by 23 , I could certainly make a decision on my own.
His dad is always around , he could have asked his advice....bottom line is he is ultimately the decision maker. It's up to him what he does, he could fire his agent if he thought he was getting poor career advice

We love a lowball offer

Spot on. The lads more than happy here.
His agent is a tit, but Clarke is/was happy to stay at the club.
