Jack Clarke

Just an easy guess isn't it. Did you really think you're bringing in 5 permanent signings for next to nothing and it doesn't take up that 8m to 10m? Risyn alone was about 2.5m.

We sold Lihadji with Speakman building it up saying it allowed us to move immediately into the market - its been said since we got back a little more than we paid, around 2m rather than the speculated 5m which was frankly ridiculous.

We knew we were after Rusyn but absolutely nothing happened until Stewart had both feet out of the door waiting to sign for Southampton, then Rusyn, Burstow, Aouchiche and Pembele came in on the same day.

Then there was around 3.5m to 4m allegedly invested in Mundle and Hjelde.

That 10m was spent, quite poorly and nothing this summer, so where is it?
So it’s a guess like you say, I agree we spent money horrendously but it still only a guess that’s what money was used.

All these wet wipes wiping their fannies over clarke maybe going, yes he was our most dangerous forward last year when we had no strikers and most of the time had to beat 2/3 players but to say we don't have a replacement is stupid. We don't need a replacement as good as clarke albeit it would be brilliant but I think with mundle there and the 2 new strikers plus mayender up front he'll only have 1 defender on him. Those 3 c/f whoever plays will take away those defenders that clarke had to get past to make things happen, mundle could be just as effective with his speed going past the right back. Teams aren't gonna put 2/3 players on him when we have such good c/f. Just my thoughts and I don't care if no one agrees

Funnily enough no I haven’t but I understand your point that still doesn’t mean money from a Clarke sale is what’s getting used for another player coming in.
Certainly. I'd rather it be KLD's personal money, or even funds from selling Ekwah or someone else in the squad - but I think the only way we sell Clarke responsibly is to concurrently work on bringing in attack reinforcements with the knowledge that any funds from selling Clarke would help with budget. None of this is happening in isolation - which is why it takes forever and gets so complicated.

It'll be Dan Neil being sold next summer with a year left on his deal to pay for 2 defenders and a winger no doubt

I think it's a pretty accurate guess. Whilst we have little idea what Pemebele or Aouchiche cost, they will have cost something even if its in nominal fees or signing on fees.

Rumoured fees for Rusyn at 2.5m, Hjelde at 1.5m to 2m and Mundle at 2m euros all either coming on the same day Stewart left or in the next transfer window and then maybe the Burstow loan was a few quid.

Whilst we can't pinpoint exactly where every penny of it was spent, we'll have spent money and ticked money on against what was coming into the club and the biggest fee at that point was from Southampton.

Comparing mundle to clarke is one of the most outrageous posts on there like.

I’ve seen some as well!!
Read the post numbnuts I didn't compare him to clarke I said he was well capable of beating 1 man marking him as he wouldn't have the 2/3 men that clarke had marking him every game. Any defence would have to mark the decent c/f that were have or gonna have where clarke had no one up front decent enough to take markers off him

Yes I’m saying that Stewart’s transfer was £8m up front and £2m guarantee add ons. Or guaranteed fee. Whatever you call it, calling it guaranteed makes it pretty clear what the meaning is
who..apart from you..called them garaunteed add ons?
Southampton are terrible negotiaators but not quite that bad..
and what do you mean by upfront? Do you think they paid an £8mn lump sum? Cos that would be stupid for them to do and stupid for SAFC to do..
You really think the club would reinvest all of Clarkes sale?....no chance.

There's Spurs % to take off, and then we'll be lucky to see 6/7m spent on 2 players and a loan.
all the stewart money was spent...
we know our owners reinvest it cos they have so far..
there is no clarke money yet..

If we sell Clarke he will be the second player we have “cashed in on” in four years of this model, and the other one is held together with sellotape.

They were very clear this is the model and sales may happen at some point, amazing that some are using it as a gotcha.

Which for me is absolutely fine. I don't mind the club being sensible like and sustainability is key (especially with the FPP rules). It's not about the money spent, it's about the results on the pitch.
