Jack Clarke

the owners have no intention of actually going for it in terms of promotion. it'll more be a happy accident if we go up

get the impression they're quite happy to kick about in this league spending as little as possible and if we happen to challenge for promotion great but if we don't it's all good provided we don't get relegated
They nearly achieved it in their first season, last season we were ideally situated to push on with the right investment on players.

Its all a bit of a mess by all accounts. So....

A contract has been verbally agreed, but not actually signed yet. Harte is advising JC to hang fire until we see what happens at the end of the window.

Jack is still more than happy here, he loves being at SAFC and would never force a move, but also wants to play in the PL and ideally would love it be with us.

I'd mentioned before that we'd turned down bids from Ipswich earlier in the summer, and they've come back with another (slightly) higher offer, but J isnt interested in going there.

The Leeds stuff was rubbish.
Please tell us you're still confident with this info MMagic?

We will all be disappointed but it's not surprising if he goes.

We arent going to get anyone as good as him as that would mean spending £20m.

Wilson, Mendy and Simic is about as good as we can expect with our model.

'his replacement could already be here' is keep being peddled out as a positive. To me that's just replacing one of the best players in the league with one who can't even get in our team.

Accepting a fee less than acceptable and trying to peddle it as good in the media just makes it worse.

Brought Rusyn in to replace him, despite saying he was a CF and then Mundle mate. Which is worrying.

Look at how they’ve failed to replace Stewart

As far as I know from what was reported it was just to be paid later. We got that 2m at the end of the season.
Fair enough. Just hope Clarke doesn't leave and he signs an extension. Injuries aside he will be worth more again at the end of this season. At least let us have a serious crack at the play offs this time.

Exactly
And except for giving us a team who we really like, full of quality players, all who will improve , and all you can see playing in the prem , spending little and being sustainable, with the squad value going from more or less zero to well over 100 million in less than three years , and improving the stadium , the pitch and sound system and club shop - what else have they really done for us?

Please outline the financial incentive for this plan, considering Championship clubs lose money every season.

More conspiracy rubbish that makes zero sense.

not saying they don't lose money. i'm saying this ownership group won't have a proper go at promotion in terms of competing financially. be it fees or wages etc. we're going to try and do it on the cheap

Twitter admin in their wisdom tweeting photos of the players in training, creating engagement from desperate fans begging to see Clarke.
They are being very tight on the shots used ....

That could be to ensure that certain players are being omitted ....like new players

Not disputing any of that, but I really don’t see how anyone could think Rusyn would be a viable replacement. Quality aside he’s a totally different type of player.
