Wilson Isidor - compendium thread

Wonder how many of the folk bleating on about him coming from Ruzzia would react were we to be linked with C. Ronaldo, N. Kante, R. Mahrez, S. Mane, Neymar, K. Benzema, R. Firminho etc.
I'm fairly ok with it, these are non Russian footballers. Its a people thing as opposed to selling arms, buying oil or gas etc etc

Isn't it going to be too warm for him here? Our winters are particularly mild. Expect him to opt out of the long sleeve hummel.

That would become an issue if the option to buy was taken up and it would be hard to argue that any transfer fee is assisting the war effort or enriching sanctioned individuals. Also the player isn't a commodity so there may be an exemption or license clause within the sanctions regime that protects his human rights.

Personally, I think signing him would be a PR disaster and it would be interesting to see how the fans taking a moral stance against the mags Saudi deal will react to this. If they're not just a bunch of envious hypocrites, I'd expect them to let their feelings be known every time he touches the ball.
Nothing like the mags, he is French not Russia. I probably would have shared the view that it was bad if he had been Russian, that would have been a bad move. I don't see anything wrong with this deal but that's just my opinion.

This is the equivalent of the mags shouting "Warraboot Disney" it's just not the same.

Maybe it's a positive that we're helping someone get away from Russia who seemingly doesn't want to be there?
People are too busy falling over themselves trying not to seem hypocrites of the mags. Anyone not stupid can see this isn’t the same thing, and I’m sure the club will be making sure all is in line with the rules

Dealing with Russian clubs and possibly getting around sanctions has a potential whiff about it, as per the link I posted earlier ... footballing authorities should have allowed foreign players to walk away from their clubs with their licence cleared, free to sign elsewhere and play, rather than being 'trapped' (if they wanted to leave). I'll reserve judgement until the facts come out, if they do
