"After four years in Caen, Alexandre Mendy wants to turn the page. But what Sunderland, with whom he very quickly reached an agreement, is offering to buy out his last two years of contract is out of all proportion to the expectations of the Malherbes. Less than a million euros for the top scorer in Ligue 2, who currently has no replacement, is a no. "For a transfer to be made, everything has to come together and everyone has to be happy," recalls Romain Thomas. "There is a party that is not happy."
Av said from the start wouldnt surprise me if someone offers near to what they want and he ends up there.Usual skinflint stuff from KLD.
Anyone else thinking some other club might think Mendy's worth a punt at 3-4 million Euros and jump in for him?
Still, there's always some PL or Championship U21 second string out there we can loan for the season if we're gazumped.
Not like KLD and Speakman want promotion, is it ?
If thats true then £800k for theirs and the league’s top scorer is a piss take"After four years in Caen, Alexandre Mendy wants to turn the page. Not sure we have much choice now, deal agreed with a player who is clearly our first choice and literally just missing an agreement with the club. Doesn't appear to be an alternative on the horizon and look how long this is taking and we have less than two weeks. It’s time to move on, surely. We can’t be waiting round till deadline hoping they blink first.
He’s either too much and we move on, or we start to up our offer. We’ve had all summer to get a deal done and it looks as far away as ever.
They have doubled down on Mendy, again no plan bNot sure we have much choice now, deal agreed with a player who is clearly our first choice and literally just missing an agreement with the club. Exactly mate. If it was paying his contract out then he’s only on £7.6k pw as well. Why would wealthy new owners agree to that?Yep, if that’s accurate all the people expecting them to cave and saying this is all negotiation are going to be surprised.

Yep. Bit shit isn't it...Not sure we have much choice now, deal agreed with a player who is clearly our first choice and literally just missing an agreement with the club. Doesn't appear to be an alternative on the horizon and look how long this is taking and we have less than two weeks.
Won't be Mendy coz Caen is in Normandy. Perhaps its Regis f***ing off back to Lorient coz we fucked him over......APX468.... Lorient...just touched down in wa aiiirpuurtt

Is it kld ...is it his plane

Exactly this. We either think he’s the answer to our problems or we don’t. The new owners aren’t going to be lowballed, as you say so, if we don’t regard him as worth probably the going rate for the league’s top scorer at a club now not in financial bother then move on.Do you mean much choice - as in move on, or keep haggling?
I get all the “get the best deal” etc. but don’t lose sight of the big picture. If this guy is the one they want and they think he’s worth up to say £2.5mn. It’s time to put the money down. It’s becoming obvious they aren’t going to be lowballed.
Up to Sunderland now, go in with what you’re prepared to pay and give it a deadline for next week. Then we’ve got to move on…
Suppose it’s easy when it’s somebody else’s money? Tell you honestly even if I had millions I still wouldn’t pay more than I’m told by professional advisors that something is worth.Usual skinflint stuff from KLD.

Do young people not hover for bargains like?KLD and Sartori remind me of the old women and blokes who hover around the shelves at the Supermarkets waiting for the reduced price items to be put out for sale on the off chance they get a bargain.

If we think he’s only worth £800k then we probably don’t want him here anyway.
Obviously we don’t want to pay over the odds but we also have to live in the real world.
I think we have to keep haggling, I don't think it's worth moving on to someone who is not particularly on our radar over the sake of this relatively small valuation difference.Do you mean much choice - as in move on, or keep haggling?
